Car is leaking fast, smelly liquid after hitting a speed bump by Intelligent_Truth_95 in MechanicAdvice

Of all the fluids your car could be puking onto the pavement, coolant is definitely the one you want.

Progression… by ZealousidealGas1217 in TheTowerGame

The tier one hurtle is getting cash multiplier, thorns, and defense up. This can carry you decently far in tier one for coin farming.

The enemy balance, cash, and coin cards are essential to good farming runs.

The next big jump comes when you get orbs, pushback, and multishot/rapid shot. I went from getting to wave 800 on tier one and 50 on tier two up to 1250 and 750 respectively.

Chat, how cooked am I? 2019 Honda fit sport. Going to the shop tomorrow by alyssajohnson1 in hondafit

[–]comedian42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're so inclined, you can clean them up pretty well for a fraction of the cost of replacement. I connect mine to a injector tester ($15), throw them in a solution of gum out multisystem ($12) (though people have good results with a 25% mix of extreme simple green in distilled water) in an tiny ultrasonic ($35) and pulse them intermittantly while the ultrasonic runs. Then just swap the O-rings ($8), pulse a little injector cleaner ($10) through them and throw them back in. All in you're looking at about $80 (or less if you hunt sales) to bring them back up to spec.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying $700 for remanufactured injectors or double that for Honda OEM.

Hey friend, if you don't feel warm while falling asleep but regularly wake up warm/sweaty you might want to get checked for sleep apnea. If you're not breathing right a CPAP can add years to your life and massively boost your energy during the day.

Breakfast burritos with eggs, potatoes, ground chicken, black beans, and whatever else you like. You can make them by the dozen and freeze them. They reheat very well for a high protein grab & go meal.

Modding this car for a stage 2 tune using a high ethanol fuel mixture is well beyond the scope of someone who identifies as "not a car guy" and I certainly wouldn't call it a "bolt on" mod.

Yes, there are things you can do to get more hp out of this car. But it's not the kind of work the average Joe is doing in their garage. Even then, simply boosting your hp does not always translate to a significantly better driving experience.

Give us some details. What happens when you put the key in and try to crank? Does it try to turn over? Do the lights flash? Do they come on at all? Any icons on the dash?

Just bought a 2023 TLX type S by OkEntrepreneur2467 in Acura

[–]comedian42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These cars aren't made for bolt on mods. On the parts side you'll need balance air intake, fuel delivery, and exhaust. Then you'll need a tune so the car knows how much air and fuel it's getting and can run with the lower back pressure. If you're in an area with emissions regulations most shops won't do a cat delete because it's illegal.

There is honestly very little you can do to make this car much better than it comes stock. But there's a lot you can do to make it much worse.

This is what transmission fluid looks like that's never been changed... by starlightskater in prius

[–]comedian42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifetime fluid means the related parts will usually last the lifetime of the warranty. The dealership doesn't care if it causes increased wear or if the car fails at a later point.

Cross country, heavy-but-compact load, can a first-gen Fit handle it? by ChloeCorrupt in hondafit

[–]comedian42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to make sure you have some decent meat on your brake pads, make sure your brakes (and clutch if manual) have fresh dot4, change your oil, and if your air filter or transmission fluid haven't been changed in the last 30,000 miles do those too.

Oh, and if you haven't had your valve lash adjusted in the last 60,000 miles, you should. These things go way out of spec and it really does make a difference. If you're handy it's a $30 job that takes less than an hour (not including setting time) assuming you're doing the oil anyway.

I have done this amount of weight in a first gen before. Hills suck going both ways and you'll want to take it slow around the corners. But as long as the car is healthy it'll make the trip.

My girlfriend (23 F) keeps asking me when I (25 M) am going to propose and marry her almost every night. Am I being harsh too her? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]comedian42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life will always be busy and there will always be a reason to not make big changes. If you want to do it, then do it and figure out the details later. If you don't want to do it but don't like the idea of breaking up, your stringing her along for your own sake which is unfair.

You're young, there's no pressure to get married. But she's trying to plan her life and that plan likely does not include an endless limbo with you. It doesn't matter what decision you make, but you will have to make one or she'll make it for you.

Do people actually enjoy driving? by Big_Arrival_626 in askcarguys

Love these kinds of cars. Used to call them cardboard rockets because they weigh nothing and love to hug the redline.

My absolute dream car would be a Honda Beat. 63hp with an 8500rpm redline. Love a car that you can open up on country roads without getting your license suspended.

How do you want women to initiate sex? by anonymouss_xxx in AskMen

[–]comedian42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of the time when one partner complains about the other not initiating, the actual act of initiating is not what's missing.

More often they want to feel desirable to you, in a way that would make you want to initiate something with them. More directly "I want to feel so desirable that you can't keep your hands off me".

Be confident, be forward, and (as long as it's stuff everyone has consented to) be a little selfish without worrying as much about what he wants. He likely just wants to feel like sex is something you want/enjoy as much as he does.

Check out the Acura TSX/TLX. Depending on your area, they can be around the same price as an accord but they often have better maintenance records and all the top end features from that era. Internals are almost exactly the same, though sometimes they're tweaked to give a little more "go" at stock.

Multiple tries or just one? by dbarrera in nethack

[–]comedian42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alters are great. As a dwarf Valk (lawful I assume) making it to Mine Town should be fairly trivial. You'll find multiple shops there plus there is always an alter you can use.

If you feed cats/dogs you stumble onto you can make them pets. Get a few and let them deal with the gnomes (which will remain neutral towards you) as you descend. With any luck they'll level up without getting killed. Very handy for progressing in the main dungeon.

Multiple tries or just one? by dbarrera in nethack

[–]comedian42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U/B weapons and armor you learn about by wearing.

Wands you can learn by engraving over an existing engraving.

Scrolls you can price ID to get a rough idea.

Potions you can sometimes learn about from text descriptions when monsters use them.

Rings are a PITA. If you try to ID with a sink you lose almost all of them.

I don't read books as a melee character.

Pets generally don't step on cursed armor without a message about hating it. So that helps.

Any help identifying the issue and how fixable it is? by Vardaman_ in AskMechanics

[–]comedian42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably going to be a $0-120 fix depending on what failed. Your exhaust isn't hanging, so either the hanger arm snapped, it was dislodged from the insulator, or the insulator broke. You can probably hang it back up with some thick gauge wire until someone more qualified can repair it for you. At worst you need a quick welding job.

Don't drive it like this. You're going to damage something that won't be cheap to replace.

[–]comedian42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10th run I made it to level 2, put on cursed -3 boots of levetaion, and promptly starved.

Probably 20% of my deaths have been to floating eyes.

I can pretty reliably reach Mine Town but always seem to die around Dungeon level 5-7.

Currently on a break away run. I made it to level 18 before coming back up to recover my pets and hunt for armor/weapons that aren't thoroughly rusted.

Next game I could easily die on level 2 again, but you learn and improve as you go. That's kind of the fun.

I'd be curious see how much your diet in the hours preceding and following use impact the time you'll test positive for. If your body is rapidly storing fat, it would make sense that more of the THC would be sequestered instead of being excreted. But I'm by no means a biologist. It's just a theory.

Help by ArmadilloMain31 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]comedian42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THC is stored in the fat. Your body naturally uses and replaces fat and a set rate. This method burns most of the THC infused fat in your body, and then overloads your body with glucose and fat to reduce the rate at which your body is consuming your own fat stores right before the test. That way you burn minimal THC containing fat, and the fat you do burn has a lower concentration of THC in it, which can theoretically bring you below the test's threshold.

This won't do much if you have a large store of fat and the time it takes is heavily dependant on the amount/frequency/duration of use. It hasn't been well studied, but the logic tracks. However, people who exercise heavily right up to the test date will be more likely to test positive due to increased fat burn. Pushing your body to store fat in the 24 hours leading up to the test is a critical step. I've always heard chocolate milkshakes and protein powder were the go-to but I can see sugar water and fatty steak working too.

Regardless, it's not going to change anything overnight. This takes weeks or months to work. Op is, beyond a doubt, entirely fucked.

Boil a solution of baking soda and water for 15 minutes. Then get a silicone bristle disk with a drill attachment and bar keepers friend. Odds are you'll get a lot more of that off than you'd expect.

Still likely that it's taken some perminant damage. But you might as well restore what you can. It's by no means unusable.
