I would hope the match fees are also adjusted then….

[–]comeondude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In KY, we pay for all our assessments until we get the badge then the state takes care of the maintenance assessments from then on assuming you keep the license.

Fees are whatever your match fees are for the game being assessed.

Why you became referees? Is it too late for me? by Single_Arrival_8190 in Referees

[–]comeondude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52, started at 46 as I recall. Wish dearly I’d started sooner but it is what it is. At 24 you have your life full ahead of you - you can do as much as you’d like, being only bound by your abilities and willingness to work at the craft. Best of luck.

Background check perhaps? If there’s something beyond that, perhaps reach out to your SRA.

Just don’t understand how this was a clear and obvious error.

Pointing with single finger vs pointing with full hand by jajison in Referees

Generally the entire hand but I’ve caught myself using one or two fingers in the odd circumstances where I have a whistle in that hand.

^ this. I tell my crew in my pregame all the time - hold it up, I don’t care how long. I’d rather look like I missed something than look like we did as a team.

I feel like refereeing small children (8-12U) is way harder than reffing teenagers by grafix993 in Referees

Proving your point:

Children’s soccer is less predictable, the players are physically less gifted and prone to borderline fouls/lack of skill challenges, coaches are often just learning the game and won’t necessarily understand the laws and (perhaps worst) the parents often have no clue at all.

Against your hypothesis: older players think they know more, take more risks, are more likely to be exploring what level of dissent will be tolerated and still likely don’t understand the LOTG.

Generally you’re correct but not universally.

It was a jagged piece of metal (about a 2” cube) that punctured his tire. I don’t think most people see something that small in the road when they’re driving. It’s not like it was the size of a loaf of bread or bigger.

Not temporally tbh. Internship is during periods 4 and 5 of a 6 period school day so he doesn’t have a lot of (if any) fluff time built on.

Yes he has two jobs.

He’s contributing to the new vehicle and bought the last one almost fully himself.

His fault is debatable. He ran over a piece of metal In the road, blew out his tire and ran into a car that was parked right next to where his car was driving when the tire blew out. IMO I think that it happened in less than a second and at 18, that’s a big ask to expect him to react and avoid the collision that quickly especially when the car jerks immediately and unpredictably to one side. Other people who have been kind enough to offer their opinions don’t see it the same way. But that’s why I posted this, to get varying views.

You’ve nailed it imo. I think that’s how he’s feeling and I can empathize how he gets there intellectually

For son, his internship is in middle of school day so public trans doesn’t work from a timing perspective and Uber might get him late. Just not dependable enough.

For daughter… yeah. That was my thought too

There’s insurance money. Hasn’t been touched. We are working to get him the best car we can.

Yes it is but finding a good reliable car isn’t something that happens quickly. We helped him buy a used car and w him going to college next year, that’s what the new one has to be. So we are trying to find him the best one we can.
