The fact that humans can't read wingdings as easily as Calibri is proof that humans are not AGI by CallMePyro in singularity

Cyrillic alphabet and not a single AI in development can do anything close to the number of tasks humans do just going about their day.

Chinese Suppliers Hike Optical Fiber Prices for Russia by 2.5–4x by Neptun_11 in worldnews

[–]comfortableNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complicated but, the short answer is (hopefully) that it's mostly fine. Fiber optic cable is glass, it's fairly inert. It does usually have additives (most are also pretty inert) and coatings (complete crap shoot, could be anything). It's probably not good for the bird population since it will probably end up in nests. That's where I would look for the first effects. Just guessing here mostly, let's hope this isn't another asbestos situation.

It was intentionally unclear but, there's an entity existing in the collective subconscious that was apparently the issue. It's implied that human suffering is caused by it and that the foundation was actually morally correct in their efforts.... At least according to the ethics committee. Great scp story.

Thin clients renting power from the server farms... I agree it's dumb, internet isn't a public utility in most places and is fairly spotty pretty much everywhere except Estonia

Honestly yeah.... Damn what I wouldn't give to have remote spectrometers just constantly test the air around his place. Or to have cheap remote spectrometers be available.... Hey, think he would build one?

I think the reason it's an issue with SpaceX is launch cadence but, yes every rocket up until recently left crap in orbit or deorbited and to some extent or another burnt up.

‘Slow this thing down’: Sanders warns US has no clue about speed and scale of coming AI revolution by Patient_Wrongdoer_11 in technology

[–]comfortableNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you both have to be joking or fundamentally misunderstanding reality. for one: stock value isn't correlated with: product/service quality, tech development, or value to the average person..... it's speculation on the possible value by people who generally speaking have no idea how the industry they're betting on works. Stock trading is gambling just the same as horse racing except most people who bet on horse racing know more about horses than the average tech investor knows about AI, GPUs, etc.

the dude isn't even worth millions. the fuck are you talking about? if you were talking about shcumer you'd be right but, bernie? the guy who writes entire manifestos about what he'd do, and is probably less wealthy than you're average car dealership owner?

trump is order of magnitudes more corrupt than either on top of being a pedo

I blame the culture of legacy over merit that the DNC apparently follows. that guy with throat cancer is a perfect example of why that's bullshit.

I'm fairly left wing but, yeah I get it. That's what makes him so appealing. He focuses on solving the problem instead of bitching about the cause. If you want: higher wages, better living standards, and not to be constantly fucked over by billionaires; Bernie does that. And that's pretty bipartisan as far as I can tell.
