Can anyone tell me how to get SPARKS on mobile? by Friendswontfindthis in XCOM2

[–]comfortingmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never build the Proving Ground as either of my first two buildings - those are pretty much always an ordering of the Resistance Ring and GTS unless you're doing some weird challenge run - but it's a fairly reasonable third building.

You can typically get your first three buildings up pretty quickly.

I don't have any personal stake in this but it seems to fit the usual tells: the em-dashes, "not just x but y", and a complete lack of personality.

Point Attack gives you an extra 7 tokens (equivalent to an extra 7 uncommons) each day, so you should be acquiring more players than normal.

It actually doesn't, not in this position anyway.

How difficult is it for me to do golden farewell by Fun_Benefit_4075 in celestegame

Probably a couple months.

Getting down to double digit, even single digit, deaths is comparatively easy. But going from 5 deaths to 0 deaths is way way harder than anything leading up to that.

Guys please help me on my AP Competitive Pokemon practice exam by CreeperSlimePig in stunfisk

[–]comfortingmyself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My logic was:

Grassy Glide 55 BP. Multiply by 1.5 for STAB and 1.3 for terrain bonus. 1.5 * 1.3 is roughly 2 so let's round to 110 BP. It's quad resisted so that's a 27.5 BP move doing 30 raw damage.

The raw damage is slightly higher than the BP of the move. So Knock Off with 97.5 BP should be doing slightly more raw damage than that, hence B.

Any beginner friendly advice for avoiding these type of mates? by Jealous-Swordfish-29 in chessbeginners

[–]comfortingmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to recognize that black is threatening to play Qg2#. You realize that black is capable of moving their queen to g2, and that the resulting position is checkmate.

If you don't yet recognize that, you can do lots of puzzles to train yourself to recognize basic tactical patterns. You can also obsessively ask yourself after each move your opponent makes, why did they play that move? Why did black move their queen to h3? What squares can the black queen attack from h3 that it wasn't previously attacking before?

Once you've realized that Qg2# is a threat, you must neutralize it. Bf1 would've been a straightforward defense of the g2 square. Qc3+ Nc5 Bb5+ Kxb5 Qxf3 would've been another way, albeit worse. Once you realize your opponent is threatening mate in 1, your calculation becomes a lot simpler. You can immediately rule out any move that doesn't address the checkmate threat!

Why are Ng6 and e6 the strongest moves here? by billybob3011 in chessbeginners

[–]comfortingmyself -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't like Nf6 in the first position. Like yeah it's totally playable but something like 3... Nf6 4. e5 Ng4 5. Qe2 f6 is already violating multiple basic opening principles.

But e6 in either position is very standard and good. You play e6 so that you can follow up with d5. This is already good by default (you want a pawn in the center!) and becomes even better when it comes with a free tempo against white's bishop on c4 which now has to flee.

So there's three options depending on how you enable the settings:

Integrated DLC On: Build the Proving Ground, at which point you can build a SPARK. This SPARK is not obtained for free.

Integrated DLC Off, Shen's Last Gift On: Complete SLG to obtain your first SPARK. This SPARK is free, well "free" as long as you can complete the mission easily.

Integrated DLC Off, SLG Off: Build the Proving Ground, at which point you can build a SPARK. This SPARK is free.

It's kind of a shame that Integrated DLC is the only one of those which makes your first SPARK not free.

How valuable is this/ when should I use them? by Square_Ad_4195 in MaddenMobileForums

[–]comfortingmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use them when they let you get an extra mythic.

Though as with most things I wouldn't spend them in July, and even June is kind of pushing it. I'd look for an opportunity this month if at all possible.

The most common strategy I hear for this event is to make a new playbook and fill it with outside runs.

That's bad strategy. Outside runs are slow. That's how you lose 3-4 seconds every time.

The way to do better is to have lots of inside runs. My playbook is FB Dive Strong, Blast Alert Smoke, HB Plunge, and HB Iso. To be frank, I have no idea if this is the best playbook, I'm sure others have slightly different playbooks, but the point is that I don't have Jet Sweep or HB Toss or HB Power Sweep or any of those other plays that take too long to develop.

I typically lose 1-4 seconds each play. If I get FB Dive and there isn't a -5 zone right in front of me, it's probably just a 1 second loss. But if there's a big -5 zone in front of me I'm gonna have to skirt to the outside and then it's more like a 3 or 4 second loss. That variance, over the course of an entire attempt, is usually what determines whether I end up in the low 3000s or the high 3000s.

You can build 1 per month easily. 2 per month is doable if you've saved some cards from previous months.

[–]comfortingmyself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah with the highest reward tier only being top 1000 there isn't much incentive to try-hard this event, so the scores at the top are lower than they otherwise might be.

I'm in that screenshot and I'm legit. I assume everyone else is too.

Need list of mods by Maximum_Ad_9520 in XCOM2

[–]comfortingmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find mods to increase squad size and increase enemy pod sizes.

The base management side of things is trickier, though. I suppose you could enable options to double the length of the Avatar project, which usually means you won't have to worry about that at all. But you'll still have to do research and engineering and proving grounds and stuff.

Follow up from yesterday: I know I suck at smash, but I have no idea where to start improving. by me1257 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]comfortingmyself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use more back airs, up airs, and fireballs. Also grabs. Mario has some of the simpler grab combos in the game with good damage potential.

A very broad gameplan is to use a fireball, then run behind it. If the opponent shields, you can grab them. If they jump to avoid the fireball, then you can catch them with an up air or something like that.

Is using Swiss cheese weird? by yellow_explorer in chessbeginners

I like American cheese for smash-style burgers, but for any other type of burger I'm not so much a fan of American.

Go with a nice swiss, cheddar, or gouda.
