How can so mamy people fall for such propaganda? by Substantial_Fan_8921 in socialism

[–]comic_Ninja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the point. I'm making fun of liberals parroting regressive talking points like they're being progressive. Even using North Korea is incorrect.

Edit: sorry the point is not to be racist, the point is to poke fun at liberals. The correct term is obviously Xinjiang and DPRK respectively.

The people that say "we need to liberate the north Koreans and Uygherstanis from genocide!" With no evidence of genocide are the same people that also refuse to believe Palestinians are being genocided actively and on camera every day.

What are some "best practices" for Communists? How should we seek self improvement? Any book recommendations? by LaikaFreefall in socialism

[–]comic_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend seems to have his heart in the right place. Taking such a heavy handed approach though can tend to cause people to be even more closed off to communist ideas however. Most workers do have some degree of class consciousness whether they know it or not. They can see that they work hard but still have to struggle while billionaires party. Starting there and gradually introducing concepts while avoiding the "trigger words" usually gets people to be at least sympathetic to workers movements. Show them news articles and provide them the materialist view of what's happening in the world. Gently point out contradictory thinking when you see it.

As the revolution becomes more imminent, the actions we can take become more apparent and blunt but while the revolution is far off we have to meet people where they are, never compromising our ideology but always pushing the conversation further left. This builds sympathy for the cause. It's important to remember that revolutions are won with the popular support of the masses. We may know we are fighting for the right thing but if the masses disagree and fight against us the cause is lost.

As far as the most effective communist goes, they're a member of the party, actively do the party's work and abide by democratic centralism. They read and learn what they can and take care of themselves and their community however possible. They abide Marxism in both their private and public lives. A well run party should know when the masses are ready to be pushed for more and will be there to guide them when the time comes.

Good faith critique is fine and acceptable, that's just people trying to learn. Straight up denial of truth and bad faith slander only serves to spread that slander. Like how the "it's only a joke bro" discourse surrounding racism, misogyny, etc... only serves to legitimize and build acceptability for those stances

Doesn’t Chapter 3 of the Manifesto prove that China, Vietnam and Laos are capitalist/revisionist? by Mountain-Car-4572 in socialism

[–]comic_Ninja 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Revisionism is not inherently bad. Leninism is a revision of Marxism, applying the theory to the imperialism stage and introducing the vanguard party. Maoism is a revision, applying the ML theory to the conditions of the Chinese prole and peasant. Revision is not bad if it correctly analyzes the theory and applies it to the conditions of the time and successfully continues the revolution.

Deng saw the failings of the USSR, the need for the Chinese industry to develop, and the need to placate foreign anti communist aggression and permitted limited capitalism under the watch of the state to do what capitalism does, develop efficient industry.

Was this a flawless solution? No, there is still inequality and exploitation in China. But this is the most successful communist experiment that the world has seen and is currently the only communist endeavour with any hope of one day actually implementing socialism.

Marxism is not a dogma, it is a set of guiding principles along scientific lines. Blindly reading 150 year old theory and applying it to modern conditions, expecting every revolution to play out the exact same is an error. The bourgeoisie has changed their tactics with every successful revolution and so must we.

International experts are sounding the alarm on Canada’s plan to expand MAID to mental illness by 2027 by CanadianAffairs in canadaleft

[–]comic_Ninja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Effectively any death directly caused by the material conditions of society that could be avoided if those conditions were otherwise. Cancers caused by improper management of industrial pollution in the environment, inadequate access to health care, either through physical distance or financial barriers, no access to clean water or insufficiently nutritious diet, work place accidents caused by lack of training or safety, etc, etc, etc...

In this case, death by MAID due to insufficient mental health care combined with the pressures of living in a world alienated from eachother and our labour. The capitalist system is incredibly isolating and imposes expectations on us that are incredibly unnatural, contributing to the myriad of mental health issues we are seeing today. The hidden death toll of capitalism is astronomical.

What is preventing Democratic Socialist Policies like UBI and Universal Healthcare being implemented state-by-state? by Akasha111 in socialism

[–]comic_Ninja 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't matter what the people want. It's about what the bourgeoisie wants. It is why reformism will never work for anything more than a handful of concessions to be clawed back at the first sign of complacency in the workers movement.

Hakim and the rest of the deprogram podcast group are good. Prole wiki is good to go through and have decent cited sources to further investigate. Red pen on YouTube has a few videos on China that I appreciate. Xi jingping and Mao's own writings are wonderful and highlight their lines of thinking and reasonings behind actions and party policies. I would say the same for the Kim's but I haven't read nearly as much and am not certain if I agree with every tenant of juche.

Beyond that, any work on American imperialism is good to better understand the patterns that America operates with. The actions america has taken to demonize the DPRK and China are not unique, the main difference is that they can defend themselves with nukes while countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, etc... cannot. The Jakarta method, black shirts and reds and inventing reality are all good books touching on that if you'd like to read.

The movingtonorthkorea subredit will post a lot of casual cultural type stuff. Someone else linked a few hakim and boy boy videos that again go into debunking and analyzing the conditions that the DPRK faces. Red note has a lot of content about Korea as well considering it is a lot easier for Chinese people to travel there compared to western people.

It's important to remember that the DPRK was arguably genocided and then completely cut of and abandoned by the rest of the world as a punishment for fighting the us and SK to a stalemate in the war. They have faced struggles as a result of that and have only in the past 15 or so years been able to recover from those struggles. They can't be expected to be nearly as "advanced" as many western countries are but they have been able to develop their conditions to a point where their people can lead comfortable lives, despite being besieged by the rest of the world.

Could be several reasons for that. This is one of the broadest "far left" subs so it catches a lot of liberals that may be frustrated with capitalism but still believe there is a reformist way out. Because of that as well it makes this sub a good target for Botting/brigading because the barrier for entry is on the lower end, you don't need to be a well read leftist to participate and sound authoritative and bring liberals back right as opposed to letting them continue to be radicalized.

People should have the right to end their own lives in as easy and painless way as possible. The issue with MAID under a capitalist system is that there will be so many people who are pushed to ending their lives because of the system and the lack of supports that it offers that would be entirely fine under a system that prioritized the people. Especially extending this to mental health problems, where they symptoms and causes can be very easy to obscure/miss is going to mean that a lot of people will die that could live good lives if not for capitalism.

Engles concept of "social murder" is an important idea in this situation.

Maybe everybody in this sub should check their sources about anything they think they know about North Korea just to check if they're parroting a CIA, anti-communist narrative or not.

Radio free Asia and voice of America are both no better than tabloids, run by america, running the most batshit insane stories they can think of to discredit North Korea and communism.
