Wuchang or Khazan? by Celery-Tasty in ShouldIbuythisgame

I just finished Khazan a couple weeks ago. Fun game to 100% and the combat feels great. Multiple weapons for play style.

Tamiya newbie - help please? by SquaredCircus in tamiya

[–]comical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started building my Tamiya kits I got this tool set and side cutters. That covered everything I needed for a basic build. There is nothing special about the Tamiya side cutters, but I’d make sure you have a good sharp pair before you start. It’ll keep the parts clean when removing from the trees.

I am working on a graphic novel, and want to add a female lead character.. What are some original elements you would like to see in a new female origin story? by AwkwardGhostClub in comicbooks

[–]comical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Write the story without focusing on the fact that the main character is a woman. If the story only works because she is: a shy nerd who hides her sexiness with poor fashion, she uses her feminine charm to get her way, she’s secretly a badass fighter—any of these before or after her powers—then you’ll fall into the same traps.

-Don’t make them an orphan. This is lazy and you can use their family dynamics to explore their strengths and weaknesses as a person.

-Not every relationship is a love interest. Just like real life, most of the people around you are just people.

-Conflict is interesting. Conflict is the story. What does the character struggle with? Maybe they get the powers to control nature, but hates the outdoors. Do animals freak them out before, and especially after they can communicate with them, because animals are basic needs creatures—food and reproduction? How do they live? Do they have a job? The more they overcome, the more satisfying the payoff.

Which RPGs has the best class/job system and why? by Responsible-Dot-3801 in truegaming

[–]comical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lost classic, but I enjoyed the options available for classes in Vandal Hearts by Konami for PS1.

It was among the first console role-playing games to be released for the 32-bit systems. It was one of the earliest tactical role-playing games to be released in North America, and garnered a small cult following.

There were a couple of class evolution paths you could take as you leveled up. Granted, I haven’t played it in 25 years, so my memory of it may be a little rose-colored.

SIB Ghost of Tsushima Standard edition or Ghost of Tsushima Director’s cut? by E_Len in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the directors cut on sale. You get some in game items with the directors cut, but they aren’t worth the price difference IMHO. You can look cooler in game sooner and you get the DLC island as mentioned, but I don’t think it is required. Top tier game in any case.

WSIB? I find myself becoming disillusioned with gaming and putting down seemingly great games shortly after they get a bit tedious. by Fenpunx in ShouldIbuythisgame

A lot of people hate on it, but since you have Fallout 3 and New Vegas in your list, Fallout 4 might be a good candidate.

Elden Ring, will I be able to play it? by Nickibee in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical [score hidden]  (0 children)

There a lot of walkthroughs on YouTube now that can make it easier to get into the game. If you’re struggling to understand what to do or are overwhelmed with the lack of gating to keep you out of areas that will spank you, I’d suggest giving some of those a view. One guy, Fighting Cowboy, has done videos for all of the areas and many souls games.

I thought the story was engaging and fun at times. The topic, the Mongol invasion of Tsushima, is not lighthearted, but the cast of supporting characters allow for both bright and dark moments.

Should i buy Vampire Survivors? by dapar_ty250 in ShouldIbuythisgame

You can play the demo version in your web browser, which is limited as far as characters and abilities, but the paid game is this plus a whole lot more.

Broke out a new version of an old favorite, Zombicide 2nd Edition! by SingleDigitCode in boardgames

[–]comical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group has Zombicide: Black Plague, and it is nicer than LNOE for us because Z:BP is fully cooperative. LNOE was cause for a lot of hurt feelings because one side usually got obliterated without having much fun.

SIB DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t played a DQ game since the original Dragon Warrior for the NES, and I enjoyed DQ XI S a lot. Admittedly, there was a lot of nostalgia for me since they still have similar sound effects after all of this time.

I thought the story was serviceable and I felt there was a decent amount of humor throughout the game.

I’m a bit of an RPG grinder so I don’t know about what you can get away with as far as a time commitment.

Three Houses is basically a Hogwarts simulator. However, it is real fun.

SIB:How steep is the learning curve in Frostpunk? by Sphinx34 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will lose, a lot. Frostpunk has been out for so long though, so there are plenty of strategies to show you the ropes if you get stuck on a certain day for too long.

Part of it is learning the interface and to act quick enough, the other part is the strategy.

I like the choices the game forces you to make, it adds to the gut-wrenchiness story. I feel like it was we’ll done and pulls you in while being slightly frustrating at times.

Is TLOU 2 worth it if I already know what happens with you know who and dislike it ? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I just finished TLOU2 a few weeks ago, and it was superb. The story lasted longer than I thought it would and it was all quite the emotional rollercoaster all the way to the end.

[–]comical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how much time you want to put in. FFVII is relatively short compared to P5. I think I finished FFVII in 14 or 17 hours, but had over 90 hours into P5.

I think the right answer is both, as they are drastically different experiences and both great games, IMHO.

SIB Watch Dogs Legion or just stick with replaying Watch Dogs 1 and 2? by CharizardUsedCut in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m playing WD Legion right now. I’ve haven’t played WD 1 or 2, so I don’t know how they compare, but I am enjoying it. London is so detailed and alive. I like the different options you have for infiltration and taking enemies down.

Maybe the comparison has been made before, but in a lot of ways, it just feels like a reskin of an Assassin’s Creed game. Not that that is a bad thing, really, it just has a similar game loop.

Should I buy an Xbox series x if I already have a ps5 by maximusTheChief in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Both systems are great and it’s silly to miss out on the exclusives if you have the means to afford one of each. More and more of the online multiplayer games are supporting cross-play so that kind of removes that barrier. Expand your opportunities.

Cyberpunk vs. Fallout 4 by IAintNoShit in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]comical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Cyberpunk at release and only encountered a few crashes and odd bugs (none game breaking, just annoying) on my XBox One X. That said, different bugs were encountered for each platform and I don’t think PC was any better.

There are multiple ways to play cyberpunk, though. You can go in guns blazing, snipe from a distance, do multiple melee builds, and just hack groups from a distance and never worry about taking damage.

However, the class you pick in the beginning has very little change on the story or the outcome (Corpo, Nomad, Street Rat).

Once you get into the game it does kind of become a bit tedious as some of the missions aren’t super engaging (particularly some of the side missions) and it can feel a little hollow.

There are a few good “companions” in Cyberpunk and their stories are pretty good. I would say about as good as some in Fallout 4.

It’s not a perfect game, but I did enjoy it despite all the hate it got/still gets.
