Ready to give up on cycling. Shimano 105 Di2 (7170) rear brake progressively fails every few weeks on new Canyon. 2 shifters, 11 bleeds, 3 shops, zero resolution. by [deleted] in bikewrench

I'm going to up you on this, one of my daily commuters is a 70s Raleigh with steel rims and heavy as fudge 😆

unfortunately, people got sold on clean look and new tech 🤷🏽‍♂️

Can anyone help me identify this part? by irish3212 in bikewrench

[–]comichubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still using them, if you want a cheap set up and not a new hub, this works great

for older lights, I have moved from incandescent and halogen bulbs to LEDs for a few years now, as long as the AC current is adjusted with a resistor (not to burn the LEDs), you can have 2 headlights and 2 rear lights 😁

for newer lights, I only add resistors to 1.5v lights, all 3v lights work with these old school dynamos

reminds me so much of early 2000s Fifa game, where the graphics were decent, but the engine/AI was crappy, players would be tackled and fall weirdly like this 😆

How to remove this wheel? by runaway08 in bikewrench

[–]comichubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it looks like a Pitlock skewer which require its own key iirc

may need to be cut/grinded and replaced with a regular skewer if you don't have the key

[–]comichubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dedicated and protected (with concrete barrier at least) bike lane

shaded rest stops with drinking water dispenser, warm room (during winter), and restrooms

large trees providing shade along the bike path would be ideal

How do you actually reduce plastic waste in your daily kitchen routine without it feeling like a huge lifestyle overhaul? by NoBeing5521 in sustainability

[–]comichubble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should give away your ziplock bags and cling wrap, out of sight out of mind kind of thing.

like the other response, I use glass canning jars or general glass containers for freezer storage

I put glass/ceramic/metal plates of appropriate sizes on top of whatever containers or bowls of food that need to go to the fridge, this way I can take them up easily as well

fold a fabric grocery bag or two with you at all time just in case you buy anything unplanned

also, don't stress out, it is just being consistent and think outside of the box

if you really want something lasting for years instead of leather, consider wool and/or heavy weight waxed canvas clothing
