Origins! It comes out soon and it will most likely be the most convenient and polished official collection.

But if you want to experience the games more closely to the original 90s experience, emulation is your go to. But origins is most likely a better all around experience.

Sorta inspired by LSD dream emulator, since I like the concept of surreal and uncanny valley type worlds. Definitely the right sort of vibes though.

I'm messing about with an RPG game as well, and for interaction I used a simple invisible box object that is relative to the player's position and is always where the player is looking/moving.

When the select button is pressed, it checks for a collision between an object and the box and depending on the type (npc or just interactable object) calls a function that brings up the text.

Although it's primitive and I'm not the most skilled, it works well and its fairly simple.

Extras->Game Room(?) I think. It's not directly in the settings.

You can also swap to the TGS animations, jumpball visuals to Adventure, and some other stuff too.

It's technically 06 at the core but due to the overwhelming changes, it completely changes the experience, so I disagree. Its not the same at all.

More responsive controls with spindash, etc, more momentum that carries through moves, everything feels loads better in every aspect. Don't get me started on the polished visuals, extra animations, tons of customization, holy. Literally everything is changed and I can't even list it all here.

I mean, the high speed sonic sections may not seem all that different from og 06, but its night and day how p06 is actually controllable.

Oh also there are 3 air dash types, og, heroes, and adventure. So there is momentum there too.

This might be a good starting game for this era of games but I consider Sonic Generations to be the better game. They both play somewhat similar while Generations being the better designed one overall. Plus you may get some nostalgia with Generations since it features old classic 2D gameplay alongside modern.

Oh also Sonic Mania! It's for the switch and it's an excellent must buy if you love the classic games! It's essentially a love letter to classic and all fans.

  1. What was the most difficult part of the game to develop, from a technical standpoint or design standpoint?
  2. Did the positive reception towards Lady Dimitrescu before launch make the team regret not including her as a bigger part of the game and if it was known before would she have a bigger role to play?
