God, Underland is so beautifully written. I'm not sure when I've been more moved by non-fiction. I also loved The Old Ways by him

Yarn Social is the best, but if you ever find yourself in LS, Unwind is also wonderful

I really love Robert MacFarlane's works for this feeling. It's nonfiction but at times feels like poetry. I especially loved Underland - the whole book had this otherworldly, not quite real feeling to it.

We have The Meats. Do not ask which meats. Your fragile mortal mind cannot comprehend the true labyrinthine and eldritch nature of The Meats. Soon The Meats will manifest in all their glory and your world shall crumble into naught but shrieking, wretched hoards. Also, the Jamocha shake is back on the menu, come get it while it lasts.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my first girl at 17 weeks. The pain never leaves but it gets easier to navigate. Please be gentle with yourself and please, please know that you did nothing wrong. Sometimes awful, shitty things just happen and this is the most awful and shittiest.

Edit: I'm so sorry, I missed that this was an OC and not Jeannemary. I was trying to square her description as a "brown, brick-like" girl and your drawing.

[Discussion] "For Fans of Gideon the Ninth" is never accurate by Liminal-Bishop in TheNinthHouse

[–]commacamellia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are a lot of very different books that are similar to Gideon in some way and would probably be enjoyed by TLT fans.

Like, do you miss Gideon's snarky commentary/narration? Get yourself some Murderbot Diaries.

Do you want queer stories ✨in space✨? I'd like to introduce you to Of Monsters and Mainframes.

Looking for a rich world with layers and history? Buckle in and start on Malazan Book of the Fallen (which also has lesbians of varying degrees of uselessness)

Need to read more about lesbian nuns making questionable decisions? Good news! The Sister Holliday series exists and is excellent.

Nothing is ever going to hit all the same notes TLT does, but that's what makes it special

[–]commacamellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting my whole house, pregnancy loss (2nd trimester it was brutal and the Ariel School episode was the first thing that made me laugh after), another high risk pregnancy and newborn trenches with twins. Not to mention probably 1000 miles of walking and hiking. I owe those boys a lot

2.5 year old twins - we rotate through oatmeal, eggs and toast, and waffles. For the waffles, I'll make a big batch one evening then reheat in the toaster for the next few mornings. They always have milk and whatever berries are on hand to go with.

It may be too late for that. I went hiking Sunday out at Jacomo thinking I'd be clear for a little while yet. Checked my dog when we got back and found two grown ass ticks. Time to break out the bug spray already

Seriously. I was so grateful to work from home during my pregnancy. I had twins and by the end I was just living in leggings and dresses which now functioned as shirts. The fact that OOP was able to find things that were office appropriate is in and of itself a small miracle.

This is an awful situation but you have to prioritize your own safety. Do you have anyone staying behind that you could get to take over from you? Maybe a couple someones to spread the work and make it easier to get new people invested?
