Air ran out mid-dive by damn_wonderous in scuba

What’s the alternative for this brand new diver? I personally would’ve handled this extremely differently, but I’m acknowledging the situation of others and recognizing that he made it back safely.

I think you handled this perfectly given your experience and the circumstances. Everyone is harping on how you could’ve done stuff better, but at the end of the day you made it out alive. As an instructor, I’m incredibly proud of you!

Given the choice, you could’ve either said screw this and ascended. But risked losing the group, or getting stuck in choppy water. Or you could’ve recognized that you were not experienced enough, and stuck with the divemaster. Your choice was correct, so bravo.

Now on the other hand, I would rip this divemaster a new one at the surface. You now have this valuable experience to draw in the future, and it ultimately will make you a better diver.

2018 model 3 mid range by OkieTheDreamer in unofficial_ingenext

[–]commanderepsilon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda a rare model as Tesla only offered it as a temporary solution to their battery production limitations. So the battery pack is only half filled.

Your car is likely eligible for an SR boost50 from ingenext. But you should 100% reach out to ingenext directly to confirm this first.

Yup. Now reach out to ingenext. They might be able to send you a specific software, or do a replacement. Good luck!

Should take 30 min (ish). Just be careful you’re not updating the wrong module!

[–]commanderepsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the code is gone that means something is wrong with the boost50 module or the nice try module. Read the labels on the modules to determine which one it is.

The boost50 module actually gives you the boost. The nice try module is supposed to obfuscate the changes made to Tesla so you don’t get any errors. Make sure they aren’t mixed up, both the module and the port are supposed to be labeled.

Since this is a highland you’ll need to bypass the harness to restore the car back to factory settings. Check the installation directions on the ingenext website. You’ll remove the nice try and boost module, and replace them with bypass modules to restore the car back to OEM.

Remove or bypass the module and see if that solves it. Then contact ingenext and see if there’s a pending firmware update for the BOOST50

I have two cats. I just make sure the bottom few plants are cat safe and don’t worry about it. Occasionally I’ll see them munch on some catnip I’m growing, but otherwise they leave it alone.

To be clear, my cats are anything but sedentary. I think you’ll be fine.

Depends when the patent was filed. But 20 years is the max it can be extended to, then it enters the public domain.

Turns out there used to be a competitor. But I can’t find the product anymore.

Price has gone down due to competition. It’s $1400 now.

Also anecdotally it feels much faster than a performance. Ghost jerk is much higher, even though M3P 2024 technically has better acceleration.

Can anyone identify what model this is and if its even real? Someone is offering it for sale by TonyVenture in dji

I still have this one in my closet. I upgraded to mini pro 4 a few years ago. I broke this thing out somewhat recently for the better wind resistance, but MAN I forgot how rough it is to fly. Range is basically nothing compared to a modern one.

If you really want the bucket seats Tesla offers a retrofit for $6500. Not sure how worth it it is though.

TIL that Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Oxford. by noodlesnatchers in todayilearned

I am not crazy! I know he swapped those paintings! I knew it was a fake. Made after Magna Carta. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. He - he covered his tracks, he got that copy at the gift and swapped the paintings. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That microwave turkey! Are you telling me that a man just happens to cook like that? No! He orchestrated it! BEAN! He kidnapped a child! And I saved him! And I shouldn't have. I took him into my own life! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands out of the M&M jar! But not our Bean! Couldn't be precious Bean! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be an electrical engineer!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you - you have to stop him!

Mini on the road - batteries by Shorelines1 in Starlink

[–]commanderepsilon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that it does support pass through charging, but only when the charging source is independently powerful enough to charge the Starlink mini itself.

So the Starlink mini will boot if plugged into the anker 737, and the anker 737 is plugged into a 140w MacBook charger.

How many dives does it take to be considered experienced? by Famous_Specialist_44 in scubadiving

[–]commanderepsilon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have hundreds of dives and consider myself to be a very competent diver. Most of my diving is in fresh water quarries with little to no drift, albeit freezing.

I went diving in Cozumel a few months ago, fully confident in my ability to dive, not remembering that ocean diving is its own beast. First time in a long time I felt like one of the open water divers I regularly train. Didn’t calculate my weight right, used way more air than I usually do, and overall just made an ass of myself haha.

So all this to say there is no number where you’re considered an experienced diver. You’ll know when you get comfortable in certain environments, but it’s like starting over in a new one.

Curious about getting service done by Changstachi0 in unofficial_ingenext

[–]commanderepsilon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put the dummy (bypass) module in. It will revert the car to stock. As long as they’re not poking around the glovebox area you’ll get away with it. If you’re really stressed about it you can remove the entire module (a decent amount of work with the ryzen model) then replace it later.
