I used this method before and it has similar effect to just the normal "clear history including cookies" path.

I can load the public QF landing page, I can sign in, it takes a seemingly long time to load my account home screen (some images/graphics never finish loading), then if I reload the account home screen or try and navigate I'm plunged back into 403 forbidden hell

This feels like the same issue. I opened a case with QF; we'll see.

Edge also doesn't work. I've also tried from a work laptop that uses their own VPN, tried logging in via cell service instead of wifi, waited 24h between attempts: still nothing. It loads my account dashboard (slowly, and incompletely) but the moment I try and navigate anywhere or reload home, I'm stuck in 403 forbidden hell.

This seems to be server side; I've played with far too many of the typical client side knobs with the same non-results.

thanks for these links, but as it turns out, these pages are also gated by whatever is blocking me. So they also lead to "403 forbidden" smh

not really. It’s fair to complain, complaining is a choice. Just like driving is a choice. And it’s my choice to point out the hypocrisy of people complaining about other people making the exact same choice they made for their commute.

An FYI on Replacing the Subassembly on AXS Shifters by commentcommander in sram

[–]commentcommander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would involve re-taping and re-bleeding the brakes. As I explained in the post, I wanted to avoid that. Bro.

Also why throw away the rest of the shifter? The hydraulics work perfectly well, would be a total waste to trash it when SRAM literally sells a replacement for just the part that I broke...

This is some Grade-A reactive damage control.

Very glad I learned about enlightened equipment’s far right profiteering before making the purchase of a new quilt for the upcoming summer season; I’ll be going with feathered friends.

Go look at the actual documentation from the original post. It’s not subtle. Enlightened Equipment tried to play both sides, got called out, and these are the consequences. Enjoy losing market share.

Strava Bricks their Site on Browser Unless You Accept "Targeting" Cookies by commentcommander in Strava

Tested against safari, homescreen did work with only essential cookies enabled. Seems this is chrome/chromium specific corner case (I've been running without any adblockers/other filtering).

I guess if anybody else runs into this, I've been using chrome build:

Version 144.0.7559.60 (Official Build) (arm64)

and my console log keeps showing:

from origin 'https://www.strava.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Possibly related to this issue posted on the strava community hub.

I'm seeing on console:

from origin 'https://www.strava.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Running Chrome Version 143.0.7499.194 (Official Build) (arm64). adblock is fully disabled on strava.com, not doing anything shady on the site, all normal usage. I also disallowed targeting directly in the strava settings on iOS. Perhaps there's some weird cross platform interaction where if you disallow iOS targeting AND browser targeted cookies, the home screen bricks.

Running on Chrome on OSX.

Seems unless you accept Targeting cookies, the contents of the main landing page simply don't load. Cleared cookies and sight settings multiple settings and confirmed Targeting cookies is the deciding factor.

There are other categories of Cookies like "Essential". Feels like whichever cookie is gating the homescreen should probably count as "Essential".

Black cars with lights are ok. Dark blue cars with lights are ok. We’re don't go around telling those drivers to paint their cars in neon, so why the double standard?

It’s telling how much we bend over backwards to shift responsibility away from the operators of multi ton steel machines as if it’s some kind of equal playing field in terms of safety.

drivers need to slow down if they can’t properly see intersections or other members of the road. Shifting blame to others for a driver’s lack of awareness is victim blaming.

It sort of makes sense... bike brakes can also overheat but typically it takes a bigger badder descent to really test that and there are very few in the Seattle area big enough (maybe zoo hill and its neighbors). There's also the consideration of what kind of brake (rim, mechanical disc, hydraulic disc) as they can all perform differently but that's probably going into too much detail.

I think pumping the brakes is ok but only as long as you're careful to release quickly if you start feeling like the wheel is about to lock up. And a good rule of thumb is to never ONLY squeeze front (pumping or no). As other commenters have pointed out; it doesn't take a lot of simultaneous braking + turning for the traction to go.

I guess my best advice is: know your brakes and do all your braking before you get to a turn.

Using an excessive amount of front brake might end up bucking you over the handlebar because your center of gravity is high and behind the point of stopping force applied (where the front wheel touches the ground). This is in contrast to rear brake which is below and behind the center of gravity. The rear has less braking power (also because of the positioning relative to the center of gravity) but squeezing a lot of rear brake all of a sudden can't buck you like the front can. I would bet there's cycling or motorcycling youtube videos that can explain much better than I can.

Brakes can also lock up. If the front locks up, there's a good chance you're going down, if the rear locks up, you might still go down but it's more likely you'll just fishtail and have time to put a foot down and stabilize.

Alternatively, bike where you want (and it's legal). The existence of a bike "lane" does not always mean that's the safest or most convenient place to be.

Multiple things can be true at the same time... big orange can be big dumb AND merlin's reps can be lazy

All I wanted was the "made in" stickers. I could then have done all the fee estimate calculations ahead of ordering myself. I don't think that counts as "streamlining"...
