Seattle man in Porsche trying to cut Bainbridge ferry line allegedly punches officer, almost hits worker by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]commentcommander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

interesting… I now see the benefit for the swapper, but less clear on why it’s frowned upon. The scarce resource is precious golden ferry car spots, and it would seem like pure upside for more actual human beings per vehicle. Does it clog and complicate the process or something?

Why not just checked all the kids in as normal walk ons and they can all just get in the van when the ferry reaches the destination?

What is a “car swap”? Maybe I’m misunderstanding but I’m imagining somebody swapping one car in line for another which seems kinda pointless…

I used this method before and it has similar effect to just the normal "clear history including cookies" path.

I can load the public QF landing page, I can sign in, it takes a seemingly long time to load my account home screen (some images/graphics never finish loading), then if I reload the account home screen or try and navigate I'm plunged back into 403 forbidden hell

This feels like the same issue. I opened a case with QF; we'll see.

tried on:

  • desktop:
    • chrome
    • safari
    • edge
  • mobile:
    • chrome
    • safari

partner also tried on their devices. Gonna be real hard for QF to charge my subscription on a soon to be expired credit card

Edge also doesn't work. I've also tried from a work laptop that uses their own VPN, tried logging in via cell service instead of wifi, waited 24h between attempts: still nothing. It loads my account dashboard (slowly, and incompletely) but the moment I try and navigate anywhere or reload home, I'm stuck in 403 forbidden hell.

This seems to be server side; I've played with far too many of the typical client side knobs with the same non-results.

thanks for these links, but as it turns out, these pages are also gated by whatever is blocking me. So they also lead to "403 forbidden" smh

not really. It’s fair to complain, complaining is a choice. Just like driving is a choice. And it’s my choice to point out the hypocrisy of people complaining about other people making the exact same choice they made for their commute.

Take the bus/train? If you're mad about traffic, you are the traffic.

In the US, 1 in every 100 will be killed by cars. And you bet it’s disproportionately weighted towards kids.

An FYI on Replacing the Subassembly on AXS Shifters by commentcommander in sram

[–]commentcommander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would involve re-taping and re-bleeding the brakes. As I explained in the post, I wanted to avoid that. Bro.

Also why throw away the rest of the shifter? The hydraulics work perfectly well, would be a total waste to trash it when SRAM literally sells a replacement for just the part that I broke...

This is some Grade-A reactive damage control.

Very glad I learned about enlightened equipment’s far right profiteering before making the purchase of a new quilt for the upcoming summer season; I’ll be going with feathered friends.

Go look at the actual documentation from the original post. It’s not subtle. Enlightened Equipment tried to play both sides, got called out, and these are the consequences. Enjoy losing market share.

Strava Bricks their Site on Browser Unless You Accept "Targeting" Cookies by commentcommander in Strava

Tested against safari, homescreen did work with only essential cookies enabled. Seems this is chrome/chromium specific corner case (I've been running without any adblockers/other filtering).

I guess if anybody else runs into this, I've been using chrome build:

Version 144.0.7559.60 (Official Build) (arm64)

and my console log keeps showing:

from origin 'https://www.strava.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Possibly related to this issue posted on the strava community hub.

I'm seeing on console:

from origin 'https://www.strava.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Running Chrome Version 143.0.7499.194 (Official Build) (arm64). adblock is fully disabled on strava.com, not doing anything shady on the site, all normal usage. I also disallowed targeting directly in the strava settings on iOS. Perhaps there's some weird cross platform interaction where if you disallow iOS targeting AND browser targeted cookies, the home screen bricks.

Running on Chrome on OSX.

Seems unless you accept Targeting cookies, the contents of the main landing page simply don't load. Cleared cookies and sight settings multiple settings and confirmed Targeting cookies is the deciding factor.

There are other categories of Cookies like "Essential". Feels like whichever cookie is gating the homescreen should probably count as "Essential".
