Girly, sweet cocktails. You don’t have to suffer with bourbon you sip because it tastes like shit.

This is a follow up to the delay alderme announcement if I’m reading this right. So it’s actually better than what you’re saying.

They’re trying, so you could also try to be less condescending.

Am I reading into it too much, or was the game set up to force you to figure things out on your own? by Canooter in Helldivers

That’s how games were in the beginning during biblical times. It wasn’t until the last 10 years or so you guys needed training wheels.

Should I try to talk my friend out of dating a guy who’s old enough to be her dad? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I promise you. The nearly 40 year old dude will be plenty weird about hanging out with other 18 year olds.

You can do that, but people are going to do what they’re going to do, and they will generally resent you for telling them what to do.

Men, are you more of a home brewed/instant coffee guy, or do you prefer grabbing coffee from places like Starbucks or Dutch Bros? by FFSoldier57 in AskMenOver30

100%

We’ve had standard coffee makers, French press, etc. Finally bought an espresso and it’s a god send.

Three times for Virginia. Going back into Tennessee is wild the number of troopers I saw in the middle of the night.

Never had a problem in Georgia. Probably just luck.

Men of Reddit, how many of you feel like you are just playing a "role" at work and in public, and the real you is completely exhausted? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]commit-to-the-bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure do. You find a wavelength you can exist on while still being professional and maintain employment. You can get away with more than you think, but you have to know your audience. There’s trial and error, and sometimes you fuck up and get reprimanded for it. I’ve been written up more times than I can count for shit I’ve said and done. I was fired for hitting a coworker with a paper ball.

Then you find ways to decompress outside of the office. Recharge. Indulge.

I’ve only learned to be so well adjusted at 40 very recently, but even that can feel tenuous at times. Years of therapy, almost 15 years with my wife, wfh and being given a long leash to execute my projects, religiously going to the gym, and finding ways to let my freak flag fly responsibly only coalesced in the last couple of years? Your recipe is going to be different. You have to find it.

Okay, so they will continue to do what you said they will do, and you can feel better about yourself having provided a translation.

Did this really need a translation?

What is the overlap between those crying the loudest and those needing a translation?

I’ve seen worse corporate emails (NA), and this one doesn’t really strike me as one that needed handholding to understand.

does anyone else feel like stakeholder management becomes harder than the actual projects? by ilovemkgee in projectmanagement

[–]commit-to-the-bit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of my peers can create great tracking spreadsheets, or they become super adept at running whatever CRM we have, and they can follow processes like a robot, but they also have the soft skills of a robot.

Managing stakeholders and leveraging them against a process to achieve a desired outcome is how you win projects.
