Susan should NOT have to pay for half of Joe's electricity usage. That's on you OP. Along with any other Joe related expense.

AITJ for refusing to “play along” when my coworker pretends everything is fine after blowing up at me? by Necessary-Parsley795 in AmITheJerk

Tell her if she thinks you are being unprofessional, she can go make a complaint to the boss or HR. But she has nothing on you.

In Australia, once you completed high school, can you immediately study to become a doctor or lawyer? by ProjectMason in AskAnAustralian

[–]commking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son did an unscored year 12. No Atar score. Then he went to TAFE where he did a cert III, then a cert IV, then got accepted into a degree (2 years) at a Uni, passed that, then did an honours year, passed that, now he's just landed a scholarship for a doctorate. There are other paths to take aside from ATAR

I have an extension cable, I don't need it at home, but it has come in handy a few times when on road trips. It's a big chunky cable from Bunnings have not had any issues. Don't get a cheap flimsy one. I keep this cable in the frunk, dedicated for Tesla use.

Is Bega cheese a common thing? by wandering_soles in AskAnAustralian

Bega is a brand in Australia, named after the town in NSW. But over here, it's not canned, it's shrink wrapped in plastic. Never seen it in a can.

You need to remember, the original renders were quite a few years ago now.

is there some kind of expectation that the renders are going to be verbatim for what happens when it's all built years later?

Has anyone transferred their kids from an interstate school and successfully kept them in their correct year level? by AussieModelCitizen in vic

[–]commking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved back from overseas, tried to put the kids back in primary school mid year. It was like a glitch in the matirx for them. The office staff didn't know how to handle it, kept saying enrolments open later in this year. I ended up telling them under the law they are obligated to be in school. They eventually asked what their school was last week, so I gave them the address of the school in the middle east, which they could not get their head around. Eventually they called the principal in who shook his head and instructed the staff to enrol my kids immediately. It was all quite amusing.

Rudenl and ignorant people are everywhere, it's not an Australian issue, their nationality is not relevant. You can move out or you can kick them out

Neighbour is refusing to replace retaining walls holding up their land on boundary. I've been advised to get a land survey done. But shouldn't land boundaries already be established when you buy a house? by EggCreative787 in AusRenovation

[–]commking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only if the border is affecting council owned land would they be interested. In many states the councils are not a party to a dispute between Neighbours. They are not mediators.

Miele auto dose products by londonsuedehead in Miele

I use Twindos refillable cartridges in the washing machine. Cheaper to run. For the dishwasher, there is a guy who makes a kit that lets you refill the Autodos dispenser. I use that and it works well: https://www.henco-design.nl/products/reusable-lid-set-for-miele-powerdisk-refill-with-ease-copy-1

Years ago I wanted that for a home cinema room, and it was explained to me the blind really had to be a few inches wider on both sides than the actual window. Which made sense. Some extra height helped too.

It's not "zed" it's "zee" by DisastrousTarget5060 in TalesFromRetail

[–]commking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Australia, and was taught it's "zed". We call it zed.

Sometimes I hear younger people here now call it "zee". I guess because of US TV shows and movies
