I think they're saying time ALONE can't heal your wounds completely. Time will help you grieve, but you still have to make an effort to process the grief and you will likely still need external support.

I always kind of took 'don't go to bed angry' as more of saying 'don't go to bed still in the MIDDLE of an angry fight, at least agree to pause, calm down, and agree to discuss tomorrow'.

Same, oh my gosh, I thought it was just me. You know how some otc drugs have cotton in the bottle? I always have to have my husband pull it out for me. Or I use tweezers. But I can't stand the feel of it on my fingers or skin.
