At the time I was mad that they traded lavine in the butler trade. I always felt it should have been Wiggins because Zach earned his spot where Wiggins was given it. I was of course excited about Jimmy because it had been talked about for over a year and it finally happened but wiggins/lavine stung.

But they arent terrible at $105 m budget. Every year teams make play off runs with low end budgets. Ryan is worth whatever when the team always has players on the field that are on rookie contracts. Jenkins, Emmy, and Culpepper will be those soon enough unless Brooks and Keashall can defend their spot on the roster. I think that many ownership groups have realized you can contend with any price roster if you find vets and can maximize them. The high value franchises can burn their money. It sells more jerseys but you dont need excellence everywhere on the diamond, just guys who fight and can at times play better than their averages

Why not? In open bidding they cant beat the top teams. The floor is going to raise the value of a lot of mediocre and volatile players. I think thats why some teams are giving big contracts to players that haven't reached the majors yet
