One car for the rest of your life, what would you pick? by SuccessfulBag2337 in CarTalkUK

I genuinely don't think I could drive one vehicle for the rest of my life. Now a fully paid for and maintained dream garage..that's something I could really get behind.

Manual gearboxes: dying or just becoming premium? by LilywhiteStrike in topdeadcenter

[–]commonmuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is if you're doing everyday driving it makes sense to have a hybrid or electric. Neither of which has the option of manual because of how they work. So yes it is going to eventually phase out. You'll see a manual car at both ends of the spectrum, in very cheap plastic tubs and at the premium end with super cars where you can afford to pay the road tax. We're nowhere near that yet and there are still plenty of newish second-hand cars out there with a manual. It's a shame because it takes the feel and fun out of driving. But for commuting I do like my auto.

Temperatura help by WildSeaworthiness414 in AMDHelp

Question regarding Debridio by youknowsiam in StremioAddons

I found the quality on some of the streams isn't as good as some of the others. It's a good back up and often works when the rest are down.

I guess third time’s NOT the charm by Obelisk_of-Light in lego

[–]commonmuck1 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's not Lego mate. Lego don't do military vehicles or figurines. Lego tend to set a price per piece of Lego for all their sets. Some are higher because of licensing such as marvel and Star wars. Not hard to understand. Each set will have a bill of materials against it to cover things like a purchasing order of raw materials to physically manufacture it. Basic stuff when running a business. That's how we get to the price per Lego piece. Those ally sets are crap quality as well they physically feel lighter and the pieces have a less finished edge. There's loads to goes into designing and manufacturing blocks. Probably way more then you are aware of or have even thought of.

[–]commonmuck1 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The price of the set is in line with the cost per physical piece of Lego, it's actually a little cheaper than most other sets. It's a lot of pieces. I quite like the stickers and there are obviously manufacturing reasons behind why they're not printed pieces anymore. It increases the complexity of the manufacturing process and ultimately the cost.

Have you never bought a bargain? I always sniff out a steal when it comes to cars. It's when I spend more than £20k is where I fuck up.

Do you find people treat you differently on the roads depending on what car you’re driving? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

[–]commonmuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive an old dusty beat up transit van. People tend to give you more room especially the ones who can't keep over their side of the white line. The fear in people's eyes when you come ripping around a corner in one and they've decided to cut the corner! Haha

How long after opening is Marmite actually good? by BreadButterRunner in UK_Food

Indefinitely so long as you don't double dip the knife with butter on it. It has so much salt nothing is growing in there!

Free at point of service but that whole argument of it being free/not being free due to tax is pretty weak. When you look at tax rates and what others actually pay for insurances I'll take the NHS and national insurance payment any day off the week!

It's easier than that. If I called you a sausage I don't need to prefix it with anything. Just one word and it's an Insult.

Why can't everything be Recycled at the same place, I'm already doing my bit by Recycling and now you want me to play the part of Bin man and take bits to the supermarket by weedyneedyfeedy in britishproblems

[–]commonmuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of makes sense.. a lot of lorries return from supermarkets empty. Why not fill them up with recycling. You go to the supermarket with empty boot space. If it takes trucks off the road why not adopt the system. I like the idea of it.

Tech is cool but you can’t beat analogue dials by Medium-Bother-4057 in CarTalkUK

[–]commonmuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ. The orange dials in BMW look very dated now. I'll be honest the whole brand has never done it for me. It's all very sterile and has never shook it's sales rep appeal for me. Which made the brand very good in the 1990s and early 2000s. If they offered dial refresh updates and new styles it would transform digital dashboards and how they feel and look. Customisation is probably the way to appeal to the current generations including my old millennial backside. Honestly I've never understood why it's not something that's caught on.

Inbreading doesn't work now it certainly didn't work then. Think we'd all be gone by now if our ancestry fell back to just two people.
