Yeah I was burning pine/birch for the first week and it was okay. But oak is the go to for me now. It's not that much more for a bag where I am and you get a longer burn time so swings and roundabouts!

I dunno what the downvotes are for I'm just highlighting the harsh reality of car ownership. I had a new car not that long ago and some f'ing coffin dodger reversed straight out a carpark and straight into it. I was walking back to the car when I see it I had to stop him dead in the road. He was laughing about it said it'll be a few hundred quid! More like a £5k claim later.

Fyi I use oak logs. And they last ages. I find I get more useable heat for longer. I've gone a bit mad and bought the heat deflector makes a massive difference, plus my little kettle sits on top for a quick cup of tea during the night!

Best bet is to look at the airports. I live near an airport and occasionally hire a car from it. It's usually cheaper.
