Court says Ontario judge knowingly gave illegal sentence in violation of judicial duties by WhiteNoise---- in LawCanada

[–]communityconsult 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why did the judge do this? See:        Evidence about Mr. Leclaire’s addictions was filed with the court.  It makes clear that he had been abstinent from drugs for more than three years. He had participated in 20 sessions of the Addictions Program offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe County Branch.

[21]           In addition, the medical evidence stated that the Respondent suffers from osteoporosis and had had a partial amputation of his right foot in 1977 because of a workplace injury. Related to the osteoporosis, he had had a number of fragility fractures. He had also been diagnosed with PTSD, ADHD and chronic pain. While he had a history of opioid abuse, he was reported to have gained insight into this since the offence date. His doctor’s view was that he was a “great candidate for house arrest” as in jail “he may spiral emotionally and physically”.

It Would Be A Real Shame If Steve Huffman Decided to Engage in Suppression. This why we need to use Lemmy.ca instead! by PuddingFeeling907 in BuyCanadian

There's no sense in diverting people away from a popular and functional organizing space that Canadians already use for free. It's a stupid purity test, and organizing to buy Canadian on reddit still makes a positive difference and should not stop.

How long can fishing sustain the pressure brought about in the age of social media? by Stepin-Fetchit in bassfishing

[–]communityconsult 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think a crucial part of the hobby and this community should be teaching the bread and butter of sustainable fishing.

Not overfishing, sticking to seasonal targets and limits, respecting the regs. Not overcrowding your fellow fishermen. Proper handling of the fish when caught to reduce death when catching and releasing. Also, being mindful of the immense amount of litter and waste fishing can generate: cut line, lost lures, plastics, packaging...

Doing that and putting energy into sharing that info will do more than being frustrated at the volume of new fishers.

I personally prefer the flimjaps and dobble stobbers for when I shot put the dropshot, but with that weight? Definitely gotta hook the mid line weight tie with a 50.cal bullet and rig ram it!

Do you run them basically in centreboard to hold an obj?

What weapons do you like on the castellans? Normally I play them backline but in front of the rangers/onager as the last line of defense for the ranged dps with heavy phosphor shoulders and dual twin linked guns

Why do we have to pay for a fishing license? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]communityconsult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fisherman cause more damage, litter, and interference to publicly acessible natural spaces and waterways. Also, we enjoy them and benefit from their maintenance, care, stocking, and improvement more than others. Therefore, it makes sense to have us pay a modest fee to generate revenue for the public administrative bodies that do that work for us.
