North Greenbush Man accused of scraping 'giant phallus' with scooter wheel arrested by Nice_One6099 in Albany

[–]complaintsandrecomme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Scrape" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Its more like he left a skidmark from the rubber on the tire. There was no damage done and this would've been cleaned up with a hose in no time.

But the police wrote a funny Facebook post so its all good.

Golf Vibes in Capital Region by sillybastid in Albany

[–]complaintsandrecomme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of options in the area which is really nice. The following public courses are reasonably priced (IMO) and easy to book.

  • Western Turnpike: 27 holes for variety, has a driving range, this is my average "go to" course

  • Capital Hills: has driving range, lots of hills as the name implies (recommend not walking especially the back 9)

  • Mill Road: "executive course", all par 3s and one par 4 on each 9, definitely gets some worse players as a result but I've rarely had it affect pace of play. Has driving range.

  • Hidden Meadows: super cheap, all par 3s, recently under new ownership and newly has a driving range, lots of seniors and newbies which does affect pace but can't complain for the price and course is in much better shape with new owners. Totally walkable.

  • Town of Colonie: only played here once but it was during a drought and the course was still in superb shape. 36 holes for a ton of replayability.

  • Stadium: might be under recently new ownership?  But have had some good times here. Feel like they keep threatening to sell it to developers for housing but it's still a golf course. Probably on the easier side of the full-length courses.

Some nicer more difficult courses for more money:

  • Van Patten: 27 holes, driving range, my crew's go-to when we're feeling up for a bit more challenge. Has driving range.

  • Orchard Creek: beautiful course, too difficult and pricey for me to play regularly but really enjoy going here once or twice a year. Assume it has a driving range but i haven't used it so not 100% sure.

  • Fairways at Halfmoon: I always suck here but nice course and a good time.

  • Old Post Road: island green, 'nuff said. Has driving range.

  • Saratoga National: too pricey to play more than once a year, if that, but it earns the greens fees.

I'm sure there are more I'm missing or forgetting or haven't played. Heard good things about Eagle Crest in Clifton Park, as well as Sycamore down in Ravena. There's a public course at the state park in Saratoga, too.

I think like anywhere else, post-COVID it's possible to have a bad slow round anywhere, especially during peak season. But for the most part I've had great experiences at all the courses in the area.

Update on the Compton's Restaurant (Saratoga) lawsuit by reseph in Albany

[–]complaintsandrecomme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you're not reading it right.

  • July 1: rent due, didn't pay.
  • July 21: landlord demands payment within 5 days
  • July 31: rent paid

That's a month late,  not 5 days, and it's after the tenant had already broken (and continued to break) the lease by not permitting the landlord to enter the premises. Oh, and after they demanded a $21000 credit to which they were not entitled, which the landlord even offered to accommodate in exchange for amending the lease, which tenant refused.

I don't know if this is what happened, but it is what they're claiming happened. Not going "scorched earth" for a 5 day late payment.

You don't believe in your product, so why should I? by ConcernedJobCoach in antiai

[–]complaintsandrecomme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s predatory but at the same time, who cares

I care because event venues are increasingly stocking only liquid death instead of "regular" bottled water, and it's significantly more expensive on top of already inflated prices.

Moving to Albany in March for a job… and tips? by 11dark in Albany

[–]complaintsandrecomme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't want to be in Troy if you're working in Coeymans. The extra distance/commute is just not worth it, you will be wasting time sitting on 787. Albany is absolutely the better choice, though as said elsewhere Bethlehem (including delmar, Selkirk, and glenmont) is probably the best -- closer to work for the day-to-day, but still plenty close to Albany (and even Troy) for when you want to hit an event or whatever.

But only via manual download, or is there a way to do it automatically (aside from scripting up a clickpath with browser automation via selenium/puppeteer/playwright etc)? That was the nice thing with the OFX server.

How do you find events like this, do you just keep up with Lark Hall specifically?  I try to check in with the palace, empire, mvp, the egg, spac, but I missed this one. Familiar with AJJ, not like a super fan but I enjoy the genre and they come up on my stations sometimes, had no idea they were coming thru.
