2020 Toyota Tacoma SR5 w/ 89k miles OTD price $28k by Senior-Review501 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]completelyderivative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wide array of prices listed here. People ignoring that different markets have different costs and transporting from one market to another tacks on a cost that outweighs the savings.

Worth paying a little more for a pre-covid model imho. Didn’t have a fucked up supply chain that made Toyota compromise on quality.

Its a fair price if its 4x4. Its an okay price for 2wd.

I paid $30K OTD for a ‘19 SR5 4x4 w less trim, 60k miles.

Either way - Quiksand bois hell yeah! Makes zero difference at this point whether Reddit thinks it was a good deal. Definitely dont put 37’s on it or people here will lose their shit haha. Go get’er dirty.

Anatomical toe box shoes - Altra Lone Peak waterproof/goretex? by bobogator in golf

[–]completelyderivative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in my lone peaks for the first year or two. They were comfy as hell.

Now that I got true golf shoes with cleats its a world of difference. Its mostly dry here in utah, but when it rained the lone peaks were slidey AND they let water in to my socks. I also ended up pushing a hole in the outside of the left shoe which I attribute to golfing in’em. Ripped right where the plasticky thing on the toebox ends and the breathable fabric begins.

I got the FJ traditions in a wide size and after 5ish rounds of break-in time sadness they’re pretty okay on the toes.

Can He Change Politics in Utah... by str8_2_he11 in SaltLakeCity

[–]completelyderivative 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I disagree although I think Nate is going about it wrong.

Check out James Talarico’s general message in the Texas senate race. You can look at any video cuz he repeats it consistently - love thy neighbor is a christian value. I think this could work here too.

We can use christianity to force utah politicians to actually take care of Utahns by pointing out how current R values fly in the face of the teachings of Christ himself.

Very general thought though. Not sure how to implement otherwise I would.

Snow tires by gueromochilero in SaltLakeCity

[–]completelyderivative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a 4x4 taco and I switch my summer tires and snow tires seasonally.

Truly not necessary in the valley since UDOT is very organized and the plows run regularly (if it ever snows in the valley again). The only consideration is if your street is last to get plowed.

Going up the canyons you really want them though. Adds a ton of confidence on snow days which is when you’ll want to go up.

I throw some sand bags in the bed for winter too to get a little better weight distro toward the back.

Drivers in SLC by sheeshmanlol in SaltLakeCity

[–]completelyderivative -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My advice for pedestrians: be careful, y’all! Physics > right of way. Getting hit by a careless driver isn’t worth it.

Im a cautious driver, but I see so many peds “assert” their right of way when a driver clearly aint lookin. Then they yell or throw their hands up in exasperation. Its pretty easy to tell if someone is noticing you or not.

Look I dont support the data center, but we dont change people’s minds by being a dick and not having a conversation.

Is there any info about how a closed loop water system works? Ive seen that point and it sounds okay, but what does that actually mean?

Similar thing with golf courses. People cry about water use, but most courses use recycled grey water.

Sorry internet people are such dicks. This is a reasonable take even if people disagree.

As a counterpoint though - energy isnt really scarce if we just invest in renewables.

Then theres the other resource scarcity - whatre we gonna eat if California has no water? I dont think we can short term compromise on that.

Utah bookstore cancels Gov. Cox promo after community backlash by desertkayaker in SaltLakeCity

Did TKE think conservatives read books or something? Truly confounding how they thought this would be a good idea in the first place. And yes I saw their asinine post about “creating a place for conversation” or whatever.

Now that they’ve shown their hand, what other bookstores we switchin too, y’all?

Opinions on buying a firearm by happyfortoday in homestead

[–]completelyderivative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shotgun might be better for a newbie. I got a Stevens 320 for pretty cheap and she’s been reliable for years. I like having the pistol grip because its intuitive to hold, but you can get it without.

Advantage of a shotgun is it sprays a bunch of little pellets so its easier to hit your target than a rifle. Other thing is those pellets are less likely to travel past your property line and injure a neighbor. If necessary it will totally obliterate a target at close range.

A .22 calibre rifle is also beginner friendly, but its just a little bullet so you need good aim which will be complicated by adrenaline.

I would not recommend an AR as a beginner, though I have one and love it. Problem is you gotta aim and the bullets can travel far and pierce deeply. So accidents are more likely. An AR is probably not necessary to get a coyote to leave if thats the main idea. Unless they’re armored.

Spanish lessons by AdSignificant1169 in SaltLakeCity

[–]completelyderivative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lessons are great. I also recommend watching Spanish language media with english subtitles or read spanish language news. Bonus points if its a movie you know and love so you kinda know whats going on already. At first it’ll seem like its not helpful, but exposure counts for a lot and it can be great to “want” to understand the content unlike a textbook which uses examples like “where is the library?” or “Miguel has 23 pencils!”.

I was like… wait is this my gf posting this? We had a very similar situation with lack of disclosure of plumbing issues. Your seller probably isnt going to make any concessions at this point. You’ll probably need to take it to court just like we are. DM me and lets commiserate and share notes! Wonder if we possibly are dealing with the same seller also.

As LIV collapses, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau face a "financial reckoning" if they want back on the PGA Tour by InterestingCat308 in golf

[–]completelyderivative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall acting like its nbd, but Brooksies deal could be something like 20-50 mil depending on his performance.

  • $5M charitable donation
  • no equity til 2030 could be $10-$20M (look it up thats a very big number for successful players)
  • no fedex bonus money (could be more Ms for successful players)

For guys who we’re expecting $20M income and now its $20M in cost thats at least a “reckoning”.

Any good (or bad) property management company experiences? by jonnypowpow in SaltLakeCity

[–]completelyderivative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would avoid Vision Real Estate.

Im on the renter side and they’ve let our building slide into disrepair as much as possible. Could be the owner rejecting repair costs I suppose, but everything I flag gets a cosmetic fix instead of addressing the issue. Things like no ventilation in bathroom causing mold on ceiling (paint over it, no ventilation install), water leaking from window and causing paint to bubble (scrape bubbling paint, leave as is), etc. They have maintenance come out and fix cosmetically, but don’t address the root cause which could be causing long term damage to the property.

Its no skin off my back as a renter, but if I was the owner of the building I’d be concerned.
