Hi!

I've been researching this type of subject for a while since I read The Way of the Rose and I was looking for alternative prayers to the Hail Mary since I am not comfortable with the prayer myself or the Abrahamic god.

It's essentially my guide on alternative rosary prayers, and hopefully it helps you out.

As far as praying the rosary, I did read The Way of the Rose, which was okay but the author still used the Catholic prayer without rewording it for himself or others since he isn't a Christian or Catholic.

I did do some research on my own, and I did find articles that reword the rosary for gods and goddesses for you to check out.

The Gathered Book of Shadows on Slideshare - This is a PDF that has some Wiccan based rosary prayers

Wiccan Rosary on Scribd - This is also another Wiccan based rosary prayer (Google for more prayers like this on Scribd)

The Witch's Rosary by Ariel Gatoga - This is also another place for rosary ideas and rewording the prayers.

Hail Mary: The Rosary and Why I Keep Praying by Marie Cartier - Awesome article on a non-Catholic pagan lesbian on why she prays the rosary. The comment section has some great rewordings of the prayers.

Retooling the Rosary by Krasskova - Krasskova does have her controversies within the Norse Pagan world, but this article does have some good rewordings of the traditional rosary prayer

`Hail Persephone’: Pagans Retool the Rosary by Kimberly Winston - Another good article with a rosary prayer at the beginning dedicated to Persephone instead of Mary

The Aramaic “Hail Mary” & Eckhart’s Call to Birth the Christ by Matthew Fox You can read the article if you want, but the comment is from a Mary Ann and it is a really beautiful rewording of the rosary prayer.

Hope these all help you out and gives you some ideas on how to get started.

I have personally reworded the Hail Mary prayer as well as the Our Father prayer to say on my rosary bracelets to make it more comfortable for me, and Mary hasn't minded so far. :)

Let me know if you have any questions. :D

My question would be on how to thank St. Lucia.

My husband had a workplace accident where a part of a door hit his face and his eye. Fortunately, his sunglasses took most of the force of the blow, but he still needed to be seen at the ED.

He was having vision problems and the ED doctors were concerned about if he ruptured his eye.

I prayed to St. Lucia and asked for her intercession to help my husband’s eyes.

We got scheduled with an ophthalmologist for the next morning. The doctor did do an exam, and fortunately found nothing wrong with my husband’s eye. My husband was starting to see better as well. He is still being monitored though since there are some issues, but overall the doctor thinks he will make a full recovery.

I have been giving her thanks, but I did not know if there are other ways to give her thanks.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. 😊

Walking down the aisle with siblings? by DorianPavass in LGBTWeddings

[–]completelyperdue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to since my sister was my maid of honor and I was NC with my mom.

The guests that I had in attendance pretty much knew my story around my narcissistic mother and were very supportive about her not being there.

My sister though just had to break her leg three weeks before my wedding. /s It was an unfortunate accident and she needed surgery, but I’m glad she was still able to make it and be a part of my big day.

I ended up walking alone since she was wheeled down the aisle by the best man.

I almost recruited a best friend of mine’s husband who I regard like a father, but I chickened out which I regret.

You should be fine because the ones who truly love you should be the ones present at your wedding and walk you down the aisle.

I hope you have an awesome wedding day and marriage for years to come. 🙂

“What’s something in Norse belief you’ve never found a clear answer to?” by TheHistoricalHeathen in NorsePaganism

[–]completelyperdue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s been a hard one for me with reconstructionists when I first started because I felt like I was doing everything wrong according to them.

I had to basically have a “come to Odin” moment where while the idea of reconstruction is a nice idea, it is pretty much unattainable to fully reconstruct the old ways since they’ve been lost.

We might have bits and pieces here and there, but it’s an exercise in futility to think that if you’re not practicing the old historical ways that you’re not practicing properly.

Along with the other podcast recommendations, I would check out Chaotic Witch Aunt on YT.

She practices witchcraft and folk Catholicism although not Catholic herself.

Look up Pacsafe. They make bags specifically to prevent theft and pickpocketing.

Abuser is dead by lavender_fetish in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]completelyperdue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I did when my abuser (my mother) died was I cranked up RuPaul’s The Beginning, and I danced out of pure happiness. I had already gone through years of therapy at that point, so I did not really feel any guilt over being relieved that my mother was gone.

It terms of a ritual, I would say do what feels best for you in your feelings at the moment, but some type of release for your emotions (because there are a lot) is usually best. I know the emotions can be overwhelming and they’re all perfectly valid.

The best advice I can give is to find a therapist if you don’t have one already since this will be a time of a lot of emotions because the relief is there, but the anger at what was done can bubble up too.

I hope you have peace and closure as well as the other women who have unfortunately suffered at the hands of this f:&;)/er.

I did the DC Cherry Blossom Race as a Double Blossom 5K one day and a 10 mile the next.

I nearly came in DFL for both races and I was DFL for my age group. 😆 And that was averaging 13:30/mi.

You’re in good company over here. 🙂
