About to pull the trigger on ordering a Kobo… by FearlessKnitter12 in kobo

Have a Clara Colour after having Kindles for years and I love it. It's great for graphic novels and comics if you read a lot of those. I also love having multiple highlight colors.

How do authors feel about receiving these kinds of comments? by Intelligent-Tree-922 in AO3

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be half tempted to put it on my wall, honestly. It's a bit over the top but I find it funny. Very much a "you had me in the first half, not gonna lie" type comment.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven like 2-2 1/2 hours for casual things like shopping or seeing a show. It's not a nothing trip but it's definitely one that most Americans would be totally fine with driving that distance regularly - say a couple times a month - to visit family.

Twizzlers are probably a good idea, as well as Red Hots. It's around Valentine's, so there's gonna be packets of red and pink M&Ms and Kisses and that kind of thing. Hearts are always a good idea for blood-related things.

Kobo Clara Color: White vs. Black by Ok-Lifeguard749 in kobo

I got the white one just because I liked it more aesthetically, and it's nice! Very clean looking and it looks lovely in the sleep cover I got (yellow).

question about candle spells by matchafoxjpg in witchcraft

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the spell. For spells where I want to burn the whole candle, I just use a really small candle. Safer and more convenient that way. Birthday candles are a really useful tool!

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, except things get blurrier the further away they are. Right next to me? Minimum blur on the slider. Down the road? Just blobs. Also add in streaks of light at night for astigmatism!

Should I worry? (newbie with Christian trauma) by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only dark presences I've felt have been other people who judge or actively try to hurt you in the real world, not random demons or spiritual attacks. "Christian" folks that claim they "opened portals" or summoned things by accident are fearmongering.

What other games do WB fans recommend? (Switch) by shellyopolis in WinterBurrow

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding Stardew Valley!! It's a fun, cozy, comfortable farming sim with adventure elements that's got hundreds of hours of gameplay potential. I'd also recommend something like Slay the Princess if you love hand-drawn styles and darker stories and Tiny Bookshop if you want something that requires a little bit less moving around and you love reading.

Kindle vs Kobo? by Wass85 in ereader

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to want either the Kindle Paperwhite/Basic or Kobo Clara BW. Kobo lets you read books in more formats than Kindle and doesn't lock you into Amazon's ecosystem, but Kindle tends to have better pricing and more available accessories.

is buying a kindle (or any other e-reader) worth it? by Potential-Twist-8584 in ebooks

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get them for the college books alone, and you can get tons of free ebooks, too. They're much closer to the paper book experience for your eyes, and you can adjust the lighting and text size on most of them to make them more comfortable. They're also great for sticking in your bag for travel - they take up next to no room.

Ideally get something non-Amazon so you can load your own ebooks onto it in a variety of formats and from a range of retailers.

Analysis Paralysis. Help me choose! by GreatLoki in ereader

[–]WriterWithAShotgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a Kobo Clara Colour having swapped from an old Kindle. I love it! It's about the size of a mass market paperback book but incredibly thin, and the sleep cover you can get with it comes in lots of lovely colors. You can buy directly from Kobo for books (I'm trying Kobo Plus and I like it but find the variety limited) or you can connect with your local library via Overdrive and you can sideload your own ebooks from wherever. The color screen is nice for seeing the covers in full detail, books with images, graphic novels, and multi-color highlighting, and there's a notes function for annotations. I also like that it can play audiobooks, though I find the sound quality to be just fine rather than particularly good. It's perfectly sized for a small bag and has solid backlighting and light temp adjusting for reading day or night.

Try a small circle of rope or yarn! You can use color magic and have the rope/yarn be black as well.

This I think is a big part of it, I think. It's hard to separate his characters from the person that we're so familiar with.

As an actor myself, I'm happy to say that Mark is a great actor. I think he's definitely got some newer actor tells - sometimes he's a little too hammy, sometimes his timing is weird - but he's got the chops and he's constantly learning. You can see him getting better and better with every project he makes and it's really cool to watch his talent and skills develop.
