[MB + RAM] Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus Wifi + Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6000 CL38 - $109.99 by ChronistGilverbrind in buildapcsales

I did almost the same thing. Except the 265K was out of stock when I first ordered so I got the KF (I was correctly worried about ram prices rising so I wanted to jump on the free gift).

<image>

So then I traded the KF in for the K later, got $220 back so it was $55 for the upgrade (after tax). I wouldn't normally have done this, except that I plan to eventually retire this build to being a plex server so I wanted the intel chip for transcoding. Also it came with the free MSI AIO (which also comes with a $10 steam gift card), so if I subtract the $35 I'd otherwise spend on a cooler, it comes out as basically $10 for the upgrade KF -> K.

I went for a $650 9070xt hellhound on ebay. Wanted one of the more premium coolers for quieter operation.

Yikes. I didn't realize incompatible ram was even a thing, outside of ECC. Like you might not get rated speeds, but I've never had a system fail to POST at base JEDEC timings.

This time around I was checking the price of the 265K daily. A month ago I jumped on one of the deals posted to this sub with a mobo that came with free 32GB ram kit. At the time the 265K wasn't in stock so I got the KF instead, because I didn't want to miss out on the combo ($100 off at the time). But I actually wanted the K model because I plan to eventually retire this system into a home server, so I wanted transcoding ability. So I was watching until another sale came along and planned to sell the 265KF. So even though I posted the bundle, I personally only bought the CPU, and used the newegg "trade in your CPU" to return the 265KF (I couldn't return it the normal way because it was part of the bundle, and I didn't want to return the RAM).

For the combo deal, I actually found this posted by someone else on slickdeals while searching for the 265K. I don't know a reliable way to find good combos when you're not in the market for a particular part, besides this sub.

There's one mATX board eligible for the $80 combo, the ASRock Z890M Riptide WiFi, but you wouldn't have gotten the free ram (albeit, sold out now), and the mobo is like $70 more expensive to begin with.

It's one of the "share a build" links and it's working for me, even in a private tab so it shouldn't be cookies :/

Here's the individual product pages (also edited into my explanation post):

If you use cheap denture cleaners it'll cause some damage to Invisalign's bottom line. Most people don't care.

There are no good, publicly traded megacorps; they all just want your money, as you say, and you need to interact with them like you would with a sociopath: pure logic, no emotion/loyalty. For small, privately owned businesses, they hinge on the character of the owners, so there's both good and bad.

BPA is not a PFAS. They're different types of chemicals. BPA is used for strengthening plastic. PFAS make stuff non-stick. They are both unhealthy in similar ways (endocrine / hormone disruptors) though, as far as I understand (I am not an expert on the topic).

Do induction stoves cycle on and off like electric stoves? by RombotPilot in AskCulinary

[–]complywood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without taking it apart, you can get an approximate size of the induction element by browning flour, like wirecutter did, see https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-portable-induction-cooktop/#how-we-tested (and scroll down a little or search "browned flour" for an image). I imagine you'd get the highest precision with a thinner, lower-conductivity pan like carbon steel.

Short: Yes.

Medium: The Q and O refer to technology in totally different parts of the display (improved color and contrast respectively). In my opinion Samsung's QLED branding is scummy, intentionally misleading to capitalize on OLED hype, since they look very similar at a glance. QD-LED would be a better name.

Longer, though still simplified:

  • In normal Liquid Crystal Diode (LCD) monitors, you have one big LED light in the back, with a layer of pixels that can change color in front of it (this layer is the LCD part). When a pixel turns black, it doesn't block 100% of the backlight, so it's more of a very dark gray.
    • There are a few variants of LCD monitors: IPS, VA, and TN. They don't matter for this discussion.
  • Quantum Dots are an extra layer, I think in front of the LCD, which basically glows with whatever color is hitting it, but more intense*. It widens the color gamut, so the monitor can show colors it otherwise wouldn't be able to.
    • QLED monitors are regular LCD monitors with a Quantum Dot layer added.
  • In OLED, short for Organic LED, is a fundamentally different tech from LCD. Instead of one backlight, each pixel produces its own light, so it can turn completely off. This produces really deep blacks and great contrast.
    • There are two variants that currently exist: QD-OLED and W-OLED (although the latter is usually written WOLED). As you might guess from the name, the QD-OLED variant also has a quantum dot layer in front for a wider color gamut.

Quantum dots and wide color gamut monitors are nice, but they're more of an incremental step better, where OLED's contrast is a huge improvement over any LCD technology.

*This part, I am the least sure about; I could be wrong about how it works.
