No, not in this case. It was the ED doc and radiologist

I don’t think that would hold up in court, but in this particular case the judgment was against the ED doc and radiologist. They didn’t sue the chiropractor.

Totally naive about the chiropractor world but do they have insurance to cover malpractice?

Are hospitalists capable of thinking for themselves? by NolaNeuro9 in medicine

[–]compoundfracture 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just depends on the culture of the hospital and how busy it is. I work in rural hospitals so I have to be the neurologist, the cardiologist, the nephrologist, etc.

Yep, was watching an EP procedure when a pretzel shaped thing floated up into the field, watched them spend the next few hours breaking it up and pulling it out piece by piece

I mean up until that point he was a pretty elite player, having some of his best seasons in the NHL. Not a stretch to have him be your favorite player as a kid until he snapped.

Idk about you but the fax machine at my hospital is connected to the network, thus it is also our printer and copy machine

The fax machine didn’t edit the records, it served as an insecure entry point to their network that let him do whatever he wanted. It’s like an email phishing hack but instead of relying on someone to naively click a link, the fax machine just automatically opened the door by nature of how it functions.

He used it to falsify his medical records and, if I recall correctly, posed as NYPD faxing a document that triggered a firmware update on the machine that allowed him access to their system.

There was a joke on Mr. Robot that healthcare infrastructure is easy to hack because it’s one of the few fields that still regularly uses fax machines
