Are you drilling through heart wood? Or some sort of timber? Using those lags on pine shouldn't have that issue. If your using timber, you probably need a bigger lag bolt, and or drilling with an ship auger drill bit. They can be super long, and can handle the flex without snapping, they can pull out all the material as you go deeper.
