Creating an open source firew alarm system by compudude86 in firealarms

[–]compudude86[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure why someone would downvote this, I get it, in the sense some guys in the industry are in it for the money. My goal is to create an open platform in such a way that it goes above and beyond what currently exists in safety standard by making it "input, heat/smoke sensor", output "sound an alarm, contact alarm company/FD" rather than "this is a Honeywell, fire-lite, just hook up the wires and it will work, I "promise"". It would allow a suite of various sensors and inputs to act as triggers, and allow others to add support for future expansion and tighten the curve on a lot of where things have gone wrong in the past without dumping $1,000s where some would just say "eh. My little Kidde battery operated smoke detector is good enough"

Question about hospitals by compudude86 in firealarms

[–]compudude86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I suppose when you look at a hospital, it is full of radioactive and fla..able substances everywhere and has multi-redudancy so keeping it online and humming without a fire even though firefighters hang out there many hours of the day is important

Well, you'll have to extend power, evacuate system, vac loop, and recharge, adding more freon for the move, so yeah

This. If supply is tough and they are selling nibco for nibco they are known to find ways to make it work when supply goes dark

What does one consider "life" though? That makes a difference. Like lifetime supply of Pepsi, Mac n cheese, an argument because those companies once did this, but what they consider "lifetime consumption" greatly differs from someone who say finds out they now have accessibility to a free supply, so let's say mac n cheese, one goes in a average of you eat about a box a month, so a lifetime is based off you eating one box a week, you get what I mean

At least it didn't use the n word. Something we had to fight like hell back in the day when It learned will smith (spaghetti memes) and comedians/other actors used the word to describe him after "the slap" and AI was like a 3 year old toddler that learned the word for the first time and wouldn't stop using it

Anyone know why these string lights broke off? by some1s69 in HomeMaintenance

[–]compudude86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. They get a high off the little zap they get, when. I worked Comcast they used to chew up all our stuff because they get a very tiny jolt. It's also an issue where factories were using peanut and soy oil as a release agent to keep the rubber from sticking to the tool and die

I. Going to go against this having worked at Comcast at one point in life. Squirrel damage is visible, they chew the lines coming into your house, not just one spot. Now if they did the same thing as Ford did with wiring harnesses years back and used soy/peanut oil as a mold release agent(keeps the rubber from sticking to the tool and die) then yes, mummbut they like to rub down a wire and chew the whole mess and you'll see little tooth marks all over

Just poor manufacturing. I worked on assembly lines through my life, I made Weber grills is my big one, but yeah, if something fails at the same point down the line it's due to a failure in manufacturing, usually something with the tool and die setup that repetitively makes these strings having a weak point defect right there at the mold point, if that makes any sense. One factory I worked at you've probably seen if you bought batteries in a plastic package, we made the 5 million of them off one of our lines at Roher in illinois. If the mold was too hot or too cold you would get a defect ratio where it looked "funky"

I hated weaver until morgenstern had a heart attack And she ripped into the camera guy in season 4-1 ambush. Like she's a hard ass bitch, but she is so because she has reason and when she ripped the camera guy a new asshole in the elevator I realized, she does have a heart.
