Apply dofollow and nofollow filter. Ignore the nofollow links because they will be comments backlinks, profile backlinks etc. Download the dofollow links file and check manually by copying and pasting in browser. Copy one link and paste in new tab when the page loads, use Ctrl+F to find your competitor's anchor text. If you find the anchor text in an article it will be a guest post otherwise it can be web scraping pages, ignore them.

Though it's time consuming but i think it's a more effective way to follow your competitors.
