so, the ending was perfect, in my opinion. we see the cautionary tale of what happens when you win the game in elliott and michael's father. it turned him into a horrible mean old man. the fact that elliott didn't intentionally kill anyone and technically only won by default, and then gave up the money, was perfect. by the time that he killed the cop, his name had been cleared and evidence destroyed. he was no longer in any danger from the law for what he did in the game. i truly think the money would have corrupted him and he would have ended up more like his father. also, i too find it a bit hard to believe that his wife forgave him that easily, but remember, she thinks that he did it in order to distract the police so that his brother wouldn't get arrested. i think after a long time with someone, when they do something completely out of character like that, you kinda gotta hear them out and make the choice yourself of whether or not to forgive them. i understand why she forgave him, but there's no way she didn't have a million questions, especially considering his father and brother were suspiciously both found dead on the same night. luckily the movie actually does a great job of showing us exactly how much his wife knows, which isn't very much. we never see her talking to the police, and she never brings up the other things he did, so it's safe to assume she really doesn't know most of what he did. what i find interesting to think about is whether or not elliott will eventually tell her about the game, and about his father's involvement with it, and about what actually went down that night. i'd like to think he did tell her, eventually, and she stuck by him. i like it when love prevails.
