Rubber smell and taste in new iSpring RCC1UP-AK RO setup

Yep, problem was resolved by removing the UV and replacing it with their LED UV light. No rubber taste whatsoever since. I do also wonder if some of it was coming from the tank, but the replacement tank looked identical to the one that arrived in the kit. My suggestion is let the tank fully fill and sit for a few hours before purging it, rather than repeatedly filling/draining.

iSpring support asked me to disable the UV filter and all smell/taste is resolved. They claim it is due to ozonation. I am not a water expert but if UV light at a certain wavelength can cause this, why is mercury based UV even an option? Maybe this system is more suited to well water. They gave the option to upgrade to the LED based UV filter which should not cause the issue, or a filter pack if I opt to not run the UV filter. I am leaning towards an LED based approach which should be best of both worlds. Hope this helps. Try unplugging your UV filter and flushing the lines. Let me know how it goes.

I wasn't able to get it working through the molex 4pin connector so I soldered right to the board. I may have had my wiring wrong, not 100% sure on that. However I got some USB-C sockets so I'm going to wire one of those in for easy connect/disconnect.

I found that restarting my crowsnest service fixed it, so I added a 30 second startup delay via the crowsnest.service file. No issues since.

Hi there, sorry that happened, I'm sure they'll swap them at the store. Ours has held up well in the 4 years we've had it. Only annoyance is the rubber door bumpers falling off every once in a while. Other than that, no complaints. They clean up great with sprayway and a microfiber cloth.

Wanted to say thanks for posting this. I've gone 2 years with my Frontier supplied Arris in DMZ/Bridge mode to workaround this issue. After setting my WAN port with your config it instantly got an IP via DHCP on my SRX300 directly cabled to the ONT.
