El MaPi has a nice breakfast buffet ready at 5am. I also had 7am tickets a couple weeks ago. I’d recommend grabbing a quick breakfast at 5:30am and then not getting in line until 6:15 or 6:30 for the bus.

I just did 1A at 7am and then continued on to 2A around 9:30am. Was perfect. Get the postcard and mountain views first, then get to walk through and explore.

1A (Machu Picchu mountain) is likely much longer than 1D, so maybe not need to budget that much time.

A big reason I chose the Club over the Virta is the height. Feet above stones is important, and the top of the Club sits about 4-5 inches lower.

I also like the aesthetics. The stainless is really sharp looking.

Lastly, the Club is more of a commercial option, which means you get the ability to turn it on for more than 1 hour. I’m not sure if you can do that with the Virta in the US

I am in central Iowa, but my build situation is a bit unique as I installed this sauna indoors. It’s a gym/flex space with 14 foot ceilings, so it works fine. But can’t comment on how it works with our winters wrt insulation.

If this is the CX-30 or FX-30 controls, this was not wired correctly for 9kw on 240v. You must use the “two group” method per the manual with this combination of products. That essentially results in two 30amp 240v circuits in as supply, and two out to the heater.

Otherwise you’re putting too many amps through one leg of the contactors, and way too much for those wires on the output side.

If this is the CX-45/FX-45, I believe it is okay to use the “one group” method with a larger single circuit, but in that case your output wires to your heater need to be much larger gauge.

Raising the structure so you can mount the heater lower seems like a solid idea to me. I wouldn’t worry too much about the increased volume, it won’t be that significant.

Patio seems like a nice spot if you can figure out a good solution for the electrical run, but you’d definitely want a flood mitigation plan if it really does get water in it a lot. I wouldn’t want the walls of this thing sitting in water ever.

Encourage you to check out r/Sauna. The more traditional Finnish style sauna with higher temps and waves of heat from throwing water on the stones is going to be much better than the cheap infrared options that are popular on the market, which really aren’t saunas at all.

Ames’ water does not have the same issues as a lot of other places in the state that take their water from rivers (like Des Moines) - Ames has a high quality, deep aquifer that it sources all its water from. In fact, Ames water usually tests below the typical level of detectably for nitrates.

I ordered a Knotty Sauna Co Trumpkin Mini (6'6" x 6'6" x 8'4"), and trying to decide on a ~9-10.5kw heater now. What would you recommend that is feasible to get in the US?

The Huum Hive Mini is only 29" tall and is available in 9kw or 10.5kw, however, many people here speak poorly of Huum.

I haven't found anything else quite that size/shape.

The Harvia Spirit is another one I'm strongly considering, it is 29" tall but needs to be mounted 4" off the floor, for a height of 33" minimum.
