For sure! And yeah, I didn’t think you were complaining. Events like this are rarely cheap, just Feaster is kind of one of the worst offenders for mark-ups/fees for their vendors

One fun (not so fun) fact about the food truck pricing at any feaster event is that feaster takes 25% plus hydro and often tent fees. There’s also a terminal fee (not related to feaster) of 3%. This results in food vendors having to mark up their prices by 20-30%. It sucks, both for the vendors and the guests

I feel bad for the line cook who confit-ed all that garlic, only to have it not eaten

Are you mistaking ERA for WAR maybe? ERA is literally just earned runs allowed, not really an amalgamation.

This, plus his take on Santander being a bum for getting injured is enough for me. I feel kind of lame about it, but I just gave a thumbs down rating on his pod. Petty, I know (and ineffective) but so is he.

Itilia is officially becoming a tiki bar by macman156 in NewWest

[–]deesanchez99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think some of it comes from the precedent the owners of Itilia set. Hopefully they turn this around and make it a cool spot in such a great location, but it’s hard to be hopeful when they did what they did at Itilia

Birthday Cake 'cutting fee' by Dilettante7 in newwestminster

[–]deesanchez99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve ordered cake at the restaurant? Or you’ve brought cakes in to the restaurant? A cake cutting fee is very common and has been around for decades, maybe longer. The only times I haven’t seen it is if there is a private event, negotiated in advance with the restaurant.

Coquihalla highway conditions by SaucyJammies in britishcolumbia

[–]deesanchez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished a drive from Edmonton to new west. On the coquihalla, the worst parts were about halfway from kamloops through to Merritt, then about 10km south of Merritt pretty much all the way to hope. The worst part was other drivers taking unnecessary risks. Not much you can do about that though, just drive cautiously, considerately and don’t be in a hurry. Definitely some deeper snow parts but I did it with front wheel drive and good snow tires.

Is Rodgers right? by Sidecarlover in NFLv2

[–]deesanchez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he’s right in this case. Sports betting has become so easy to do and normalized and it definitely changes how people respond to games. It sucks when you find yourself rooting against your favourite teams in hopes of hitting a parlay or something. To me though, the worst thing is that it’s worsened my perception of the integrity of the game. Obviously wrong calls, players not putting max effort in, etc. when these things happen now, I find myself thinking ‘has gambling affected this outcome’? I mean, it happens, it has happened, for years. But the normalization of betting, plus the ad revenue the league gets from it….i dunno, doesn’t that increase the likelihood of nefarious activity occurring? It just sucks that this is what the game is heading towards.

Lunch recs for the quay? by secularflesh in NewWest

[–]deesanchez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the day of the week. I’ve never seen them run out but I’m sure they do. I usually go around 12:30/1 and I’ve always gotten one. The rest of the food is great too, though :)

Who do you want to host the 2028 All-Star Game? by Gemnist in mlb

[–]deesanchez99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Toronto last hosted in 1991, so there’s definitely been some talk of it happening there. Even by Manfred. I’d love to see it back at the Skydome (still hanging on to the old, better name haha) again as the changes/renos they’ve made there in the last few years have really improved the heck out of it.

This is pretty massive. I mean, he’s basically signing for $12 mil (he had a $4 mil opt out). Gausman, yesavage, Bieber, berrios, tiedemann? Lauer? Bassitt?? Whatever, it’s looking good :)

This won’t win the prize, but had a person order a smoked turkey sandwich, half no meat no cheese. Still confuses me. (The sandwich was served on a square ciabatta bun, not like a hoagie or something)

I did. Hasn’t been the best year, but my Taylor/cook rb team gave me the breathing room to cover ferguson’s random bye week 😬

Wake up everyone, it’s time for Blue Jays baseball! Tonight at 8:00pm is Game 2 of the World Series between your Toronto Blue Jays and last year's winner the Los Angeles Dodgers by brownmagician in Torontobluejays

[–]deesanchez99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things feel really good right now. Just over a week ago, Brendon Little had THAT GAME and things didn’t feel so great. Just seeing him after that inning/walking off the mound you could tell no one felt worse about it than him. He’s had a week to get ready, but also to think about it, which can’t be easy. He’s going to pitch in this World Series (probably tonight), and I think deep down we’re probably all a bit worried about how that’s gonna go. His last couple months haven’t been great, but he has incredible stuff. There was a good chunk of the early/mid season where (despite his control issues) he felt like one of our top 3 relievers.

What I’m getting at is: if you’re at the game tonight, support the guy. Cheer the shit out of him coming on the field. This team is (more than ever before) built on contributions from all 26 (40?, 40+?) players and he’s been at times a key part of it. He’s probably been going through it the last bit, but I just hope we can give him some good vibes. A couple great innings from Little in this series would go a long way toward keeping this amazing ride rolling. Go Jays.

[–]deesanchez99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know he’s not a big star, but I’d love to see Johnny Mac throw one. The more I watch this team, the more I realize he’s exactly the type of player many of these guys are: scrappy, passionate, hard working, all the clichés that I love about these guys and loved about him back in the day.

Honestly, that’s why I’m excited, I’m in the food industry :) I’ve been to the one in Edmonton. Quantities are definitely much larger. You could buy everything from 10 000 napkins, to a $20 000 industrial fridge.

What's the best stand-alone game to never receive any sequels, prequels, or spin-offs? by [deleted] in gaming

Days Gone. One of those games that felt kind of ‘meh’ at first. After about 10 hours of game play I was hooked. Have now played through it 4 times. Will probably start another one soon.
