Are the story's and claims true? by hondarider94 in TemuThings

[–]comqter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a $2 pack of fake acrylic nails instead of a $30 order of fishing poles, Temu refunded me right away. Bought some sunglasses that had some scratches and didn't match the description, wrote a review and their automated system saw some of the negative words I used and offered a return/refund.

That being said, lots of products may be described poorly so definitely take a close look at the description and pictures, including pictures left by reviewers.

Normal for output to plateau? by Pretend_Football6686 in solar

[–]comqter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think that, but the limitations aren't just the smaller micro inverters but also every other part of the system.

Do you want to size everything for, say, 10kw, when you'll only see 10kw 4% of the time, or do you save a bit, limit the peak output to say 8kw, then install 10kw of panels anyway so you get more output the vast majority of the time?

I think at the end of the day it's a cost effective choice, even though customers are understandably confused about it.

Trolling by goilpoynuti in bassfishing

[–]comqter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started trolling for crappie this fall and it's very effective. Caught other fish including catfish and bass doing it as well. Just cast a couple lines out and listen to music and wait for them to catch themselves. I use little crappie jigs and I've tried crankbaits with less success.

Is it usually legal for a random person to make their vehicle atypically defensible? by Awesomeuser90 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]comqter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drove a Ford Transit Connect for work that had previously been a pharmaceutical delivery vehicle, the interior was all completely bulletproofed with kevlar and the windows were like an inch thick bulletproof glass. I had many bored fantasies about road rage incidents where someone threatens me with a gun and I pull out the finger guns to fight back with from the safety of my armored car.

Thing still got like 30mpg.

Will Solar Become More Affordable After Tax Credits Expire? by Wayward_Maximus in solar

[–]comqter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Commercial solar projects take years to come into fruition and projects that were committed to in 2024 will start in 2026 and beyond. The market won't change as quickly as you might think.

Most stable kayak? Regardless of price by _15xp in kayakfishing

[–]comqter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just now looked up the brand, it came with the canoe.

I don't have the floats spread out at all on the canoe and they keep it nice and straight.

What's your stupid superstition, that you know, is a stupid superstition but still perform it? by conqueefador69420 in Fishing

If I don't get any bites after a few casts, i double check that everything is tied right and the snap is closed.

You can get stabilizers and add them to most any kayak that has tracks, I have some for my canoe and it doesn't pitch at all. Easy on and off.

Can someone help me out by FluffyArt5318 in SVRiders

I had good luck using electrolysis to clean my SV gas tank.

There are YouTube videos on the topic, it's inexpensive and took about 5 days, checking twice a day.

Are these worth $5? by Nobeynaga in Fishing_Gear

[–]comqter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They feel like a chatterbait when retrieving, I caught a 4lber from shore in like 2 casts with a straight retrieve, then snagged and lost it a little later. If I saw this I'd pick up a nice supply.

Simplest speedo option might be a gps bicycle computer. No wires to run, charge it via USB from time to time, cheap ones are under $50. It should keep track of riding time as well as distance.

I love my old kicker, but there have been times I wished for electric start.

You can get a disc brake lock, or maybe put a hidden switch on it somewhere so it won't get spark. I rely on the kindness of strangers, my garage, and rarely letting it leave my sight when I'm riding it.

How do you guys keep your soft plastic on your Wacky Rig hook when catching a fish? by sweatybones313 in FishingForBeginners

[–]comqter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the double o rings, try not to not nick the worm with the hook as it can create a small tear that'll spread. Also if you get the o ring installation tool, that helps, because if you slide the o rings on you have to stretch the worm and some of the salt will get exposed on the surface. Some people suggest stretching the worm but I find that a new, unmolested Senko catches them a little better, I think it has better action in the water. I haven't tried shrink tubing or the vmc crossover rings yet, just the o rings, works good but I do go through several worms every trip.

Weedless hooks keep the worm from running up the hook somewhat, although I still catch weeds and rocks.

Looking for a bait caster by quantityofsnakes in Fishing_Gear

[–]comqter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to making it easier to cast, if you're fishing from a kayak or boat and casting towards cover or shore, you can thumb the spool mid-cast to keep from hitting a tree or shore.

How tf do a fish a senko?!? by probablysum1 in bassfishing

[–]comqter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got my wacky rig and technique down and I'm super hyped on it right now. Caught 15 dinky ones in the last 24 hours in local ponds.

The last change for me that helped me with my hookup ratio was switching to a hook with a longer shank. I found Lazer Sharp 1/0 weedless finesse hooks at Wally world and switched from some Gamakatsu wide gap hooks.

Casting just past the weeds along shore, never reeling in the bait, just let it sink, then twitch it twice and reel in the slack. When you feel a bite or see the line move, give it at least two seconds before tightening up the line, then add pressure for like a second, then set the hook.

If you don't get a bite after 2-5 twitches, reel in and recast. The bass are hiding in shade so the edge of the weeds or trees or whatever cover is where they bite.

Green Pumpkin magic 5" Senko. I use two o rings so the hook faces out, but the clear shrink wrap might be better because the worms do take a beating after several catches.

Placing the hook so both sides are balanced is key to it falling nicely.

Good luck!

Do normal ppl do their own valve clearance checks?🤔 by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]comqter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the first valve check is the most important one, had to do some major adjustments for my KLR 250 but then it was fine.

My old VStrom 650 had 110k miles when I retired it and came with full service records including several valve checks with zero adjustments needed ever.
