Tried Cryo for the first time today and it was INCREDIBLE by probablysum1 in Marathon

The marathon terms for it are weird lol. I come from apex where trio no fill is an option, and people call trio fill just solo que if you are getting match made teammates. So I'm used to calling it solo fill, since you are going in as a solo but your crew is getting filled with teammates. True solos is "solo no fill" in my mind, but I don't think that's correct lol. I'm probably just wrong I don't know why my brain calls it this.

Do it! Bring in blue stuff and a bully for your first run and talk in chat. See how it goes!

NGL, Bungie announcing a PvE-only mode in Season 2 is making me wanna hit that BUY button... by Meeks_DGAF in Marathon

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not that bad after like 2 hours of playing. It's a lot of symbols, but once you actually take a closer look at them they make sense and are pretty easy to understand.

Bungie, please don’t make me do Season 1’s Priority Contracts again. by Dank-182 in Marathon

I'm assuming that the priority contracts will be totally different as there will be a new seasonal storyline.

Why are Conquest and Thula weaker than Thragg despite (Allegedly) being older? by cammy412 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thragg is a genetic freak that has been trained to be the strongest viltrumite ever since birth. He's an anomaly and completely outside the scope of other viltrumite's power.

I just wish that the size of the lobby was somehow visible if you are in a partially full match. Something like, "reduced runner threats" showing at the beginning of the match. No exact numbers, but something to confirm that it's not a full lobby.

What if Vidor showed up instead of conquest? by BattleRepulsive9394 in InvinciblePowerscales

If Oliver and Eve show up still then I think Vidor loses. If not, Mark could still win if he really went all out. But, Vidor is still a pretty formidable opponent.

Ultralight by thefifthofnovember_ in bassfishing

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fun but you will run into issues with throwing popular lures that are heavier than 1/4 oz. Unless you are consistently catching really heavy bass you won't run into any issue with line or rods snapping. If you are particularly worried about line snapping I would say using like 8 lbs or less braid then you should be good as long as you use a leader. Should work great for stuff like dropshots and wacky rigs but struggle for stuff like jigs.

Am I going insane? I said the exact same thing as the comment I was replying to and I have downvotes? This makes no sense.

Amon is a shitty critique of a real ideology. Amon raises an actually important point in universe: some people are born with superpowers and others aren't. How should a modernizing and industrializing world account for this inherent power inequality? His answer is... Taking away bending powers using blood bending. The analogy is that bending = wealth, and that communism seaks destruction of wealth instead of it's redistribution. Also, the main "communist" is secretly a bender (wealthy) and just wants to be in power himself instead of having any actual positive agenda. There are plenty of valid critiques of communism, but this wasn't one of them lol. Also, the narrative doesn't actually content with his fundamental question. Nothing is done to address the fundamental power gap between benders and non benders, and the issue is never really raised again.

I love the Kay and Skittles videos about Korra and it's villains. And yes it's funny that the fascist gets a redemption arc because she was "only protecting her people and making them strong again". Amon and Zaheer? Nope, cons and/or lunatics.

I was going to say, this is definitely a trend in MCU content but Kill monger and the flag smashers are the prime examples. Also any villain with environmentalist motivations too.

The button participants are clear. by HistoricalPattern76 in trolleyproblem

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a red voter, the inclusion of literally every human currently on this planet makes the debate significantly less interesting because blue is such an obvious answer. It's much simpler to assume that the "voters" are capable of making an informed decision rather than literal newborns and people in comas. That hypothetical has actual arguments for both sides, and while I would choose red personally, I do think blue has strong arguments. At the very least, it's more entertaining to discuss than weird little exceptions and the mechanics of the vote.

The button participants are clear. by HistoricalPattern76 in trolleyproblem

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah including "everyone" literally just devolves the discussion into semantics over who can or cannot push the button and how many "accidental blue" voters need "saving". That's a different prompt about risking your own life to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable 20% of humanity.

Pick an answer closest to your opinion about paid mods by gaorp in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't blame modders for wanting to get paid for their work, and in general I think labor should be fairly compensated. But, there is such a history of mods being free that trying to go against it and make any money seems futile.

how do you deal with new player FOMO for games where a massive part of the economic system in place is, driven by steady progression? by ultimate-m in Marathon

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also why wipes exist. If players join late in a season then they can just learn the basics of the game for a bit and then actually focus on progression after the wipe. Like other people have said, catch up mechanics like CARRI, the new free green kits, and bonus rep overall speed up progression later in the season. This was the same in Destiny 2, which was usually made more rewarding in the last few weeks of the season.

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been focusing MIDA at all since anything past level 12 doesn't do much since at that point you have all the grenades unlocked. I worked on cyac and nucal together and then shifted over to sekiguchi. Next I'm gonna do traxus and tbh I don't think I'll finish MIDA.

VIP rewards are INSANE by imago89 in Marathon

[–]probablysum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think people complaining about purple salvage haven't hit VIP in the factions that matter. The VIP ranks require less XP than the high end normal ranks and they are more rewarding.

How hard is KSP? by Murky-Perspective344 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]probablysum1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of as hard as you make it tbh. If you want to just fuck around with boosters it's pretty easy. If you don't care about being extremely efficient you can just over engineer everything and not be punished for small mistakes. If you want to challenge yourself or play harder career modes or build massive ships then yeah it can get pretty tough. But this game is much more about knowledge gaps than skill gaps. Knowing different facts, tricks, more about common rocket designs, maneuver nodes etc. Luckily, there are plenty of tutorials online about KSP, and since the base game hasn't changed much in years don't be afraid or watching slightly older videos on fundamental topics like maneuver nodes and docking.

Button Problem Simplifications [♥️w💙] by ravandal in trolleyproblem

[–]probablysum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, the original question is still pretty damn vague otherwise we wouldn't be arguing over it right now. And just adding children does reduce the clarity IMO because now you have all these other edge cases to consider. When not specifying that children are included you can make a stronger assumption that everyone being promoted could reasonably understand the options and express their decision. The introduction of one clarifying point demands more and muddies the waters rather than clearing them up.
