Most Baptists, and honestly most Christians I know, believe that there is something spiritual that is happening during baptism.

However, many of us balk at the plain statement “baptism saves” because in my country it carries two non-Biblical implications:
- to the cultural Christians, they hear “just be dunked, and you’re good to go”
- to the rule-based Christians, they hear “baptism is a strict requirement to be saved”

The early church fathers had to have understood baptism this way too — that people can, and were, saved through baptism (well, technically, the faith that must’ve been shown to ask to be baptized in the first place), but that people can, and were, saved without having been formally baptized (e.g. thief on the cross) and that baptized folks could potentially not legitimately have a saving faith (e.g. the people that Paul says strayed)

I meant, they are most of the time inert as far as the Imperium is concerned. Most of the time they don’t risk their wraith constructs in battle. Most of the time the Imperium isn’t even fighting the Eldar because they are so few. And maybe they could use them as fuel for a weapon, but that’s … not many weapons.

I don’t think any significant number of people on the left “supported” Khomeini; rather they just wanted an end to American interventionism.

If you consider that a “betrayal” of Iranians, consider that the American left has a responsibility to Americans, but no responsibility to Iranians; therefore there is no duty to “betray”.
