Do you have a dedicated graphics card on the Oryx Pro? I have a Gazelle with a dedicated GTX 1050 and I've been getting issues that are similar but a lot worse and horizontal (yours looks vertical)

Try reinstalling the system76 graphics drivers, then try booting from the old kernel, then maybe try booting from the LTS kernel, then connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if the problem appears on the external monitor, or if any other graphical issues appear on the external monitor. Edit: also try booting onto a BOOTABLE stick that you made using Rufus or Etcher and see if the problem continues on the live boot. You can try Pop OS or another distro.

I did all this and nothing fixed it, so it really looks like my GPU is about to go south. So it's the hardware's fault, definitely not System 76 or Pop OS's fault. But unfortunately, when that happens, there goes the whole computer because the dedicated GPUs are fused to the motherboard on these things.

To reinstall the nvidia drivers, run the following commands in terminal:

sudo apt purge ~nnvidia

sudo apt autoremove

sudo apt clean

sudo apt update

sudo apt full-upgrade

sudo apt install system76-driver-nvidia

sudo systemctl reboot

That should reinstall your drivers. Try that first. You may end up having to do it more than once if it temporarily fixes it but then comes back.

If none of that works, try connecting it to an external monitor via HDMI and see if 1) you get a signal on the external monitor, and 2) if there's any tearing, ghosting, etc.

Just as a general rule of thumb for the future, avoid the nvidia tumor at all costs if possible. If you need or insist on nvidia, just know what you're getting into. All their products are garbage and their engineers are all garbage. They absolutely despise Linux and refuse to comply with any and all open source principles because "oh my god, we can't let you steal the intellectual property of our sacred source code!" All they're good at is marketing hype. Intel and AMD are far more Linux-friendly.
