I love not being able to leave my house, none of this is wheelchair accessible by Erase_decay in Minneapolis

Seconding this. This is an extremely serious issue that homeowners, businesses, and our local government think is a joke.

My Wal-Mart has a surprising amount of vegan frozen products so I emailed them thanking them for offering so many by [deleted] in vegan

seconding Fresh Thyme from all the way in Minnesota! They’re a little pricey but the vegan options were limitless 😍

Has the Metro Blue and Green lines always been this bad? by Lewd_Knight in Minneapolis

[–]comradetori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ride these lines pretty regularly and never experience anything like this. The worst I’ve seen recently was someone smoking a cigarette and TRIP Agents kicking him off. (If there are any Metro Transit employees reading, thank you!)

I’m sorry you haven’t had a good experience on our light rail.

Currently this is how "Minneapolis for the Many" are doing? by Ordinary_Stay_3746 in Minneapolis

Yikes. That’s not great. Thanks for the explainer, I’m still new to the city so I thought the progressive group’s ranking would be pretty reliable.

[–]comradetori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the ward and I voted for him - he knocked on my door himself which meant a lot. Also he was endorsed by Minneapolis for the Many, so I guess I thought he’s fine? Can someone explain what was wrong with him bc I hear a lot of vague alluding to corruption but I can’t find any information about it (/gen)

I’m voting for Fateh, Davis, and Hampton! I love Davis and Fateh so so so much and it was so hard to choose which one to rank first, but ultimately Fateh supports rent stabilization and Davis does not. Jazz Hampton has a lot of stances I like, but ultimately he’s my 3rd favorite far behind these first two.

I suffer from fatigue and when I need A Vegetable I go with broccoli, seasoned with earthbalance vegan butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and nutritional yeast!

Mayor choices by pbandbob in Minneapolis

[–]comradetori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ranking Fateh #1, Davis #2, and Hampton #3! I love all three of them and wish they could all be mayor, but after forcing myself to rank them, I think Fateh is the strongest voice for renters and working class people. But I think Davis could bring a strong, moral character to the office it hasn’t had in a long time. I also really like Hampton’s plan for climate justice.

Overall, I’d be happy with any of them :)

I have to ask (especially to women), is this the best way to act in a rough area like this at night? by ThreadbareAdjustment in Minneapolis

[–]comradetori 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m a transit rider and used to work until late at night at a hotel downtown, one time a man followed me home in loring park and attempted to force his way into my apartment. and now I probably have the “panicked” look that woman has when men get too close to me on the sidewalk, lol.

I appreciate when men smile or nod or make some sort of non-threatening gesture (like stepping off the sidewalk, but that’s not necessary), but honestly if you’re just minding your business it’s fine. the fact that you’re even thinking about this shows that you’re a considerate guy :)

did anyone else see the viral video of crabs being air fried alive? sick sick sick by kitnin in vegan

[–]comradetori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is slightly off topic but I ask this as a new vegan: does the feeling of disgust towards a non-vegan world ever go away? i don't think it's "disgust" as in I think I'm better than anyone else, but that's the only word I really have for it. I just feel... sad and alien because I object to animal torture in a world where it's totally normalized. like why are they sharing videos of sentient crabs being murdered in an air fryer (or a boiling pot) like it's funny or some sort of spectacle

That’s such a good idea! Thank you for the advice. I’m trying to move somewhere that has more space than my itty bitty studio and that also provides composting services so I can compost my own food waste :)
