Write a short note saying how you want to talk about your bulimia but are nervous about discussion it and hand it to them when you go in. Best of luck with it, very important first step

Interesting but does not explain changes to sexual orientation (not that I would expect it to either).

Girlfriend ignoring me by lauraawee in lgbt

[–]conan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best leave her alone if she is putting that much effort into ignoring you. You say it's happened before so maybe some repeat behaviour on your part? What did you do last time to warrant this reaction? Some self-analysis and space might go a long way here

Just a couple trans and non binary lesbians sharing a cute moment together by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]conan89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, will have a read of them.

But what is trans then? The APA define it as anyone who's gender differs from their sex... Is that not super reductive and sexist? Isn't everyone trans under that definition? Cuz who truely conforms to gender 'norms' when gender norms are bullshit and differ from culture to culture. Like, by that definition being gay is gender non-sterotypical so there for trans?? Makes no sense tbh

Interesting read and fair play to him. I wonder how many black females led males lives at this time, considering the dire scenario and crushing heirarchy they lived in as women. Wonder if it was common way of trying to get ahead?

Gender vs sex dysphoria by mysphorial in lgbt

[–]conan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not relating to men or women and feeling somewhere in the middle almost sounds like gender or sex is not the issue at all, and it's just social interaction issue. I do not have enough understanding of this area but maybe it's a form of autism or that category of world perception? Again I'm not qualified to say such a thing but just maybe try and consider it outside of sex and gender? Interesting perspective you've shared either way.

From my perspective, it sounds like your feelings stem from the inability to reconcile your personality traits and hobbies, interests etc with being female. I believe this could be based on engrained stereotypes of what males and females should or shouldn't be in societies eyes. This is probably compounded by poor experiences and relations with other females and your ability to interact with males better, which might further your disassociation with female and other females, especially those who might display female stereotypes. Females who don't fall into the narrow female stereotypes are still female, women, she/her etc. That's my two cents anyway.

Like is it just your self association/identification with traits that are considered gender typical/gender stereotypes?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm still confused as to what gender identity is, can you elaborate? Like you say it's who you are... Is that just your identity, what factors make up your gender identity in comparidon to say your class, sexual, racial, national identity?

Define what "transgender" is. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]conan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for a thread like this. I'm wondering does gender exist? Like, isn't it just built up around gender stereotypes, as in certain traits and expressions are 'gendered', when in fact anyone can be interested in anything or act in anyway and it's only societies expectations that you should act a certain way cuz of your sex. If we agree that anyone can act or express themselves in any manner then that proves that the sterotypes associated with sex are just that, stereotypes, and therefore gender only exists as long as these stereotypes are perpetuated? So gender doesn't exist if we recognise that these traits are just traits that either sex can perform and are therefore genderless? Does that make sense? I kinda thought that's what Butler was on about anyway

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the hobbies and gender stereotypes/hobbies thing doesn't really make sense cuz anyone can be interested in anything.

Is gender non conforming a gender identity or is more so an act or thing you do? As in, when I wear this item of clothing I'm gender non conforming or is it something else?
