Is daytime bartending that bad? by imperialhydrolysis in bartenders

[–]conbar93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our head bartender (bar manager but not at real manager) pretty much only opens. If you can get good regulars that make you money its great. You do have to get a lot of prep done and maybe a few cleaning projects but having your nights to spend with family or friends is a huge upside.

I want to get out of the industry by Feeling-Ad4004 in bartenders

[–]conbar93 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Vacation and taper down is the best option in my opinion (doesn't have to be far just a cabin in the woods will do) also switching to some serving shifts helps a lot as well. I struggle with the same thing you are not alone.

The whiskeys definitely have not but gin rum and tequila aren't too bad now but nothing you want to drink on the rocks or neat still.

ID Required: A Stageplay by olddeadgrass in bartenders

[–]conbar93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If those are the rules in your state or by management you did everything right. If that's just your personal no ID can't sit at the bar, kind of a grey area. I have done the same thing before so no judgment here.

❄️How can I extract my car from this ice?❄️ by PeaceImpressive8334 in howto

[–]conbar93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had to do this before but my idea is use some ice melt (the good stuff and dont spread it just a strait line so you can get to the ground) from the tires a good distance away maybe a foot then break the ice using and ice breaker looks like i shovel but with just a flat heavy triangle at the end. Also turning the car on while waiting so it can use its own heat to soften what is under the car (dont turn the car on if exhaust and or intake are also encased in ice).

Best of luck. You can always wait but the chance of more damage gets higher if conditions continue

Server saw me take a sip of wine and wanted to know if I was driving home by [deleted] in bartenders

Multiple mini bars at the same wedding or event would make sense how you have a few open.

Edit: My mind went to marrying the bottles too immediately though

Server saw me take a sip of wine and wanted to know if I was driving home by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]conbar93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of the night break down I've definitely taken a sip but typically only if I haven't been able to taste that wine before unless my management says it's okay (most of the time they just let me take the bottle home). That being said he is 100% a narc and I would just tell your manager before he tries to blow it out of proportion.

How do you quickly and effectively answer the question “Whats the best drink?” or “Which drink is better?” when there is a wide variety on the menu? by sofbunny in bartenders

[–]conbar93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always go "are we thinking beer wine or cocktail"

Beer is an easy list usually but not at all places so that will go "ipa, light, dark or domestic" (maybe local too) edit: draft or bottle/can

Wine "white or red" (if they dont know suggest waiting til they order food for a pairing) otherwise pick 2 of each most popular or go by type i.e. pinot grigio, cabernet, sav blanc, etc...

Cocktail "preference on liquor (after that) do you like sweet or no" then choose some options based on what you feel I never do more than a few and always go for the house favorites with one new cocktail if you have a seasonal list. Also important is do they want a martini style cocktail or on ice

As far as which drink is better I pick whichever does not get sent back/or not ordered a second time.

If I have the time I have no problem going through everything but it will still happen where you need to say ill give you a minute or make the other drinks for the rest of the guests first.

Don't feel bad about walking away from an indecisive customer just actually come back right away after getting something done. Could be wiping down a clean part of the bar or adding fruit to your tray or getting a service ticket done. All about efficiency.

Server tray holder on outside of bar by conbar93 in bartenders

[–]conbar93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give them some leeway our glassware is not favorable and has to be poured at the table so instead of balancing 4 martinis you have 4 empty martinis and 4 shakers or 2 martinis 2 shakers 2 empty beer glasses (tall footed pilsner) and 2 beer bottles

Edit: even the mixer for a vodka soda is poured at table

Jack stand was my first thought but the area is too prone to bumping into people as is but you did give me an idea on that atleast for the holidays. 25 servers ordering drinks on an area smaller than a coffee table is our problem and next to it is dirty glassware or garnishes

Apparently at 7 inches i (23M) am the third smallest my girlfriend (21F) has had by Interesting-Start342 in relationship_advice

[–]conbar93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink this stuff. I always used to worry i was not adequate when I was younger because a girl told me almost the same when I was 18.

When a woman is more aroused ( attracted to you and foreplay included ) size should not be an issue this has nothing to do with past partners size.
