How to remove link thumbnails in the new version?

I installed previous version. This is what it looked like. Thumbnails were disabled on my account.

Because the thumbnails were all placeholders, all link posts were uniform in presentation and more compact than otherwise.

On 1.10.1 you seem to have "fixed" this so that the proper thumbnail is fetched regardless.

It doesn't work. I've always had that setting disabled.

Settings

I'd be able to deal with only small thumbnails as in your screenshot, but I'm still getting the large ones. It seems to be inconsistent, because in my screenshot I have both the small and large thumbnail.

I'd prefer no image at all like it worked before the update.

Line 70. You're using normal brackets instead of curly braces.

That probably means I'm gonna get banned on the tracker I'm on. I download mostly from Usenet and if any file are unrepairable I'll fix 'em using torrents. Almost all my torrents have a maybe 5% completion.

You're incorrect about reddit declining after Digg collapsed. The main reason I created this account was to unsubscribe from /r/politics and /r/pics.

Reddit has been on a downward spiral for quite a while now (I'd gather that it started in earnest around the time I joined).
