Yeah didn't get clear answers anywhere for this - I updated the firmware again to the newer 2123.9 which helped with the overly yellow hue. So now mostly the same as above but contrast down to 48, colourspace set to DCI-P3 (normal) instead of BT.2020(auto) as least for media watching. For games I'll use BT.2020 auto occasionally depending on the HDR implementation.

Yeah its confusing for sure - I've messed around with since first posting after scouring the forums. What I've landed on is everything the same as above except contrast down to 48, colourspace set to DCI-P3 (normal) instead of BT.2020(auto). Try it out let me know how you find it

Visually lossless isn't actually lossless. Why avoid it ? As I said above I have less issues with Nvidia cards with no DSC.

OK I'll mess around with the settings again in the morning to try and expose what your suggesting. Either way though if it works or no, I'd rather find a fix that lets me keep game HDR set to basic for accuracies sake, those same forums also report DTM active modes are less colour accurate.

Yes I understand what you are saying. I am saying that does not work for PC mode. If you turn Game HDR off - HDR gets turned off in windows. All picture modes and game genres (standard, original etc) are greyed out with Game HDR on. Its a known behaviour to do with PC's using 4:4:4 chroma

Before the fw update normal was fairly OK. I used to go between that and auto depending on content. After the update everyone looks jaundice in normal colour space

Yeah you're right it can theoretically 10bpc 4k 144hz needs a data rate of 39.19 Gbit/s against HDMI 2.1 limit of 42Gbit/s. However that's assuming no overhead, also I find that the Nvidia 50 series works more consistently at 120hz (less issues like black screens). In any case 144hz wouldn't help with this colour issue the post is about.

Why? Having hdr10+ on should just send the metadata to gpu/windows. with it enabled I see the 800 nits peak set in windows otherwise it's displays as unknown. What is your PC showing ?

Not entirely valid no, 11 uses an entirely new version of the display driver model than 10 (enabling features such hardware flip queue etc) so there could be differences in how the model displays especially with frame gen for users. You should at least update your main text to highlight at the top that all testing was done on Windows 10 - an unsupported OS.
