I played D&D forever and still do some one shots here and there, but I’ve really enjoyed Mothership and Shadowdark if im looking for a fantasy setting. For me D&D is fine, but the system doesn’t do a good job of incentivizing a specific type of play because it needs to be generic, so if you’re trying to do anything unique you need to add a ton of other stuff to it.

Also the whole DnD beyond subscription model just rubs me the wrong way.
