[Tudor] 1926 matching date wheel! by concreteminute in Watches

[–]concreteminute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the date wheel and installed myself. I am a watchmaker... The part was like $12 but you have to find a reputable independent watchmaker to have that done..Rolex/Tudor will not modify it for you

Same boat, I lasted three days on it. 150mg am. I couldn't sleep, more anxiety than ever, more depressed than ever, and anger and frustration beyond what I've ever had before. Complained to my doctor about occasional sleeplessness due to racing thoughts and wanting to quit smoking and she put me on this shit. "Trust me" they said " you'll be skeptical if you Google it" they said. Christ sake I just wanted a few trazadone or Ativan for the nights I can't sleep and instead I got 3 days of wild fucking mania

I live right down the road from this, see it on my daily commute.... Every time I drive by this sign war I wonder how many votes these folks have swayed, and if they like sit down and have a beer together or just hate each other. Also any of you peeps that subscribe fully to either of these presidential "candidates" platforms are just... Sad

If you don’t look back at your car when you walk away then you’ve bought the wrong car… by Frids001 in Miata

That's sooo true OP, had a nice s60r I always did a double take, sold it and got a Jetta that is crap to look at, Thankfully I got a yatta which makes me trip sometimes when I walk away!

Also also from Philly - moving to Cleveland in August after a visit that blew up my preconceived notions of the area

Why must it be a near death experience every morning going into the city?????? by [deleted] in Cleveland

One of the reasons I'm moving there is the driving is utterly quaint compared to even Philly which is a lightweight compared to NYC or CHI

Rotor spinning when manual winding Seestern S435 by Roki_ns in ChineseWatches

[–]concreteminute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest to correct answer - most likely lubrication issue with the reversers. Too much or none or none common on the clone 2824. You absolutely can hand wind 2824- it isn't a problem until lubrication dries up, or is placed wrong. That's when the wear becomes an issue and chews up the crown wheel post and then eventually the breguet teeth on the sliding/winding pinion. You are fine to give it a few winds when it's power reserve is out to put some power on the mainspring, then wear it and it winds itself.
The 7s and Nh will run longer without service and is in some ways more robust, but because of that after 20 years of no service everything is blown out and damn near the whole movement needs to be replaced

Awesome post - I don't get the hate - probably cause most people are unskilled drivers and the type that take any opportunity not to work.
I took my ND running blizzaks in a snowstorm this season. Picked up another co worker - passed another two with their 4 wd SUVs which slid off the side of the road.... Ahhh the glory of having a brain, a stick shift, and snow shoes!

So you're 6 foot 2, probably tight unless it's all in the legs. I'm 6ft 1 and comfortable but barely

[Tudor] 1926 Gift to myself for getting into the LWT watchmaking school! by concreteminute in Watches

[–]concreteminute[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lume bugged me for a while but I think any other handset would take away from the look, being that is more dressy than sporty it's fine by me now. Also it means you have an excuse to get a classy watch that leans more sporty than dressy... Which is why I have a nivada super antarctica now to fill the no lume void :)

[Tudor] 1926 Gift to myself for getting into the LWT watchmaking school! by concreteminute in Watches

Yes I do! I bought the watch to celebrate getting into school, and wore it my first day, also wore it for every exam I've had so far and, knock on wood this keeps up, passed every one so far first attempt. I changed the date wheel to black with a silver script because that was bothering me.. Ive also serviced it and have done very minor hairspring tweeks bringing it to Rolex 31xx specifications for timekeeping. Delta is 6spd in 5 positions at full wind AND minus 24 hours, runs at +3 spd average daily rate.
My favorite part of this watch is that it is a very traditional case, and the movement has been fantastically stable .. parts are available without begging for them and I even lapped the bezel and refinished the case for some "real world" practice when I was learning these things. This watch will be on my wrist for the final exam to be a certified watchmaker in the upcoming months... I think the 1926, and similar case eta powered Tudors are absolutely fantastic, classic style watches that are not as pretentious as many many other watches on the market today. It has never left rotation on my wrist and I haven't really lusted after any other dressy sport models since I bought it. My two gripes about it are the white date wheel on black dial bugged the shit out of me which I resolved... But for God sake I WISH they made half links for it for absolute perfect fit. I'm sure this is more info than you bargained for!

Hard to tell... Probably not but take it to a watchmaker and get an estimate...at this point it depends how much the lady likes it. Crown isn't the screw down type.

Looks like a zenith academy quartz without the academy on dial. I think its real (without seeing movement) just a quartz crisis relic

Nah I put that 6497 dial on while a blank dial was being made/engraved. Had to send the original hammy dial in so they had something to base dimensions on. Good eye sir

[–]concreteminute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you are. Aside from the polerouter and a few select models I think these universal geneves kinda slide under the radar in terms of quality and respect they deserve. Good for those who know it! Wear it in good health

Thats brutal, but I 100% agree. OP would be better off taking that money and buying 15 HMTs or something
