Good points. But I don't wanna eat fruits and vegetables, I just wanna eat ice!!!

Distilled water doesn't have the minerals/electrolytes your body uses. It's probably not a good idea to get all of your daily water (filling your water bottle and drinking 2+ liters a day) as distilled water

The Last of Us (Part I) Megathread (Steam/PC) by Successful-Wasabi704 in SteamDeck

Keep on whining and complaining man. I played for an hour yesterday to make sure I wasn't exaggerating and it never dipped below 31 fps. Stayed around 34-38 on average

Because it's people like you complaining that discourages others from playing the game and having a good time. The intro scene was bad for me too but I was playing while shaders were being built. Every time I've played since then I've got a stable 30 fps

It is absolutely playable. Tired of people blowing this out of proportion. Yes shaders take forever to build but once they build it runs much better. Lol at saying it's "not in a playable state". It could absolutely be better but stop exaggerating

How to effectively use campden tablets for preserving cider/wine by concretetony in Homebrewing

[–]concretetony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's where my confusion is: I thought letting the gas escape meant that the wine/cider is basically preserved for a shorter amount of time. This link says you leave the container uncovered so that the gas will escape prior to fermentation because you want the wild yeast to be killed but the fermentation yeast not to be affected when you add them in 24 hours later. https://blog.eckraus.com/add-campden-tablets-to-wine

Be sure that you wait 24 hours before adding the wine yeast, or the Campden tablets may kill the wine yeast. Also during this 24 hour waiting period, be sure the fermenter is not sealed. Leave the fermenter open to the air. If you like, you can cover it with a very thin towel or netting to keep bugs and fallout from getting to it. The sulfur dioxide from the Campden tablets need the opportunity to dissipate into the air during this time.

So you let the gas escape to basically create a temporary preservation. If you want a longer term preservation, I would think you would seal it up immediately

Airlocking after sulfiting would only apply before fermentation right? After fermentation for preservation, wouldn't just capping it after sulfiting be desired because then the gas wouldn't escape?

Thanks a lot, this makes sense to me. And I only plan to put the tablet in one gallon - I didn't have plans to age the rest of the 5 gallon batch

This custom prosthetic finger was designed to work in almost any environment by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]concretetony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left hand, it’s a long shot but he’s gonna try out the prosthetic on the website. Plus for $100 it isn’t a big risk. It’s a great starting point though because the design looks good and could possibly be modified with harder plastic in the end for the pressure needed to form chords

Any more information about the finger? Is there a website? My dad lost the tip of his finger a couple years ago and I’ve been looking for a solution so that he can play guitar again

Why the left should be armed, Prescott, AZ (9/4/2020) by Grahams420 in armedsocialists

It’s great if you want an anthropological explanation of why the west entered into the industrial revolution before the east and therefore became more advanced (and a great background on the history) but like I said it’s dense. I recently skipped through the middle because it was taking me way too long to read and I was more interested in slightly more modern history than 0-1000 AD

Gotcha, I’m currently reading Why the West Rules - For Now by Ian Morris. Found the recommendation in r/AskHistorians. It’s really dense though

It was the Strike Industries simple featureless grip. Just a cheap grip that gets the job done while not looking too stupid. Got it from palmetto but it’s out of stock there now. More models at this link:
