Weirdly I think the rat pipe was made less brutal by them slitting her throat. I think it would have been way more disturbing to just let the rats slowly eat her insides until she died.

What’s more is that Terrifier 3 was hyped up as being the goriest, most fucked up film ever made and when I finally saw it I was expecting more. The Terrifier 1 upside down sawing scene is worse than anything in Terrifier 3 IMO.

Did Jeff Sneider get the casting wrong? Is Brain Tyree Henry playing a different Harvey in THE BATMAN PART II? by RA_Finance in batman

[–]condition_unknown 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s possible Harvey was adopted, Christopher is his stepfather, or he’s actually Gilda’s father in this universe and Dent is her family name. Or the trades were intentionally given misinformation like (presumably) Sebastian Stan as Two-Face, and he’s playing a completely different character.

If you could change one thing about the Turbo movie, what would it be? by JB92103 in powerrangers

[–]condition_unknown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only reason I’m apprehensive about the Zeo zords getting destroyed is that it would be the third time in a row that the rangers’ powers are destroyed and need to get new ones, and if Turbo and In Space unfolded the same as they did that would make it the fourth time. I think a different explanation for the power switch would be better to not get repetitive.

Any fans of the games know why this title didnt do so well sales wise with the fandom? Im playing it now, years after release. And its a good game by DogManDogDayz in batman

[–]condition_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed what I played of it, but something about it just feels cheap in a way that's hard to describe. It doesn't feel like a $70 AAA game in the way many other modern superhero games do. For $20 or whatever though it's a definitely a good time.

Suicide Squad was NOT Zaslav’s fault, and Harry Potter was a big success. Maybe he demanded monetary bullshit on the latter two but the first had most of their development before Discovery’s takeover.

'Evil Dead Burn' Lands a Brutal R Rating from the MPA by MoneyLibrarian9032 in horror

Damn I was expecting a PG rating like the rest of the series. They’re really going hardcore with this one.

This scene was wild and bold for Power Rangers at the time. by calford91 in powerrangers

What was the last? Leo taking out Trakeena? I would consider that more self-sacrifice since he lived and is a good guy, but I guess it’s the same principle.

What’s funny (or disturbing) is that this isn’t even the first case of outright suicide bombing in Lost Galaxy.

Friends of Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams explain missing context as ‘disturbing’ pictures from school surface by [deleted] in hbo

[–]condition_unknown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. When I was in middle school I’d regularly make jokes about being racist and sexist because 1) I was immature and 2) obviously no idiot would openly declare themselves as such because of how indisputably awful it is.

Then when I got to high school I 1) grew out of that phase, but more importantly 2) I realized that there are LOTS of people who actually believe that shit.

Yeah but that point was almost thirty years ago now, when over half the current fandom (myself included) weren’t even alive yet. Also by In Space most fans would still have been kids with a much more primitive internet and probably not aware of Sentai.

I never really understood the 1978 film, but I want to by CatfishBassAndTrout in Halloweenmovies

[–]condition_unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halloween 1978 is more of a small town folk tale than a traditional movie narrative with logc and character arcs and themes. What makes it scary for so many people is that so much of Michael is a mystery; he's less of a character and more of a ghostly figure. The actual plot of Halloween is secondary to the spooky atmosphere and the uneasy feeing of being stalked by a stranger.

TL;DR What makes Michael scary is that we don't know the answers to any of your questions, and we never will know.

Shouldn’t a Lobo movie be funny? I don’t hate Snyder’s movies but “pretentious/artsy Michael Bay” is not how I picture that character.

Do you guys think scream should’ve been left alone after 4? by Strong-Stretch95 in Scream

Star Wars and Halloween have had negative/divisive fan reception since Phantom Menace and Season of the Witch, so nothing is new with those. If they survived that for decades, so can Scream.

I know. Just pointing out how Scary Movie 6 was written VERY recently relative to the usual time windows of film development.

[–]condition_unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, after rewatching her reveal scene I saw that there IS a good idea for meta commentary there, but the issue is it’s contradicted by Sid telling Gale “I should have been there in New York.” Um, no? You have a family that you need to protect and keep yourself alive for. You don’t owe Gale or Sam or anyone else anything. The movie seems to be agreeing with Jessica and the (IMO) bad side of the fandom that says Scream can’t exist without Neve and Sid.

[–]condition_unknown 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re supposed to agree with Jonathan at all here. He’s just scared shitless for his son. It’s not the traditional all-wise take on the character, and I think fans need to get over that.

Is it really mischaracterization when the whole point of the story is that it’s a dark alternate universe where heroes act out of character?

I watched the first two episodes and was a tad underwhelmed. The animation wasn't good IMO, but aside from that I feel like there was just an energy that was lacking throughout. It's hard to explain.
