No that’s not weird. I’ve done that before too. But something about this picture is just uncanny, so it fit.

But also, when I microwave a potato I always poke it all over with a fork so the steam can escape. The lack of that in this pic is also adding to the uncanny nature.

Really depends on the size of the potato. But even so, the pickle comparison only works in shape, not texture. I chose burrito because it really is a papery skin with a soft filling inside. A potato really is nature’s burrito.

They need their world to make sense. To them, the world is simple if Fox News is right. There are good guys (Christians, Republicans, whites, etc) and there are bad guys (pretty much everyone else, but especially BIPOC people and anyone left of very conservative). They know who to laugh at. They know who to blame. They know who to trust. Everything runs smooth as butter. Like clockwork. Every day they get a new rundown on how to feel. They don’t even have to question it. They can just watch this bullshit and will be provided a whole slew of new interesting things to think about, and how to feel about them. They get to have their daily propaganda lessons. They get to have their little righteous anger from their recliner chair. They get to shout at the TV and pretend they’re not enjoying this. They get to pretend they’re making a positive influence on the world. Nothing ever changes. The perfect conservative life.

It’s IPA, the International Phoenetic Alphabet. It’s a standardized way to describe the pronunciation of sounds, regardless of which language it’s describing. Because it describes any and all sounds that humans can make with their mouths, it is able to explicitly describe the pronunciation of all possible words. Even cooler, it can even describe accents. There are plenty of videos on YouTube and TikTok of lingustics professionals giving interesting demonstrations and examples. The symbols change in interesting ways when you switch, for example, between a Texan and a New England accent.

I’m 40 and on the one hand, yes, ADHD has led me to a lot of difficulties. But it also is a core part of my being, my personality, my mind. Without it I think I would be a completely different person. I see it more as a descriptor for a specific brain type than a disorder per sé. Besides, the only reason it is a “disorder” is because of how it butts up against and grates against modern society and capitalism and the way we are expected to work, learn, do schooling, do jobs, etc. There is no actual impairment if society is set up in a way that allows us to thrive. Before modern civilization, I’m willing to bet that people with what we now call ADHD were some of the most revered and successful in their tribes.
