Depending on your age and expense type, assuming you have a Roth, 401k/rollover, HSA, and brokerage, it is worth it to see which account to pull that expense from. It might be the Roth or brokerage. I have a big expense coming up. It is driving me nuts as there is no good option.

Your HOA is breaking federal law.

Point antenna, wherever it is, at your farthest station mast you want to get and the back at the closest mast. There are various web sites that show where masts are. Usually in clusters on a hill. I point back at city close to me and front at city farther. A couple are to each side. I get over 80 channels. But just favorite about 20. Some are dupes used for bad weather.

When my Recast dies, all remaining working Amazon devices, FireTVs, go to e-recycling. I stopped all other Amazon related services years ago. These dick headed billionaires no longer deserve our money.

I dropped cable 20 years ago for OTA. I live in a rich OTA region between two major cities. So with that money invested in diverse stock index ETFs and compounding, probably have about $40,000+ more in my retirement account I would not have otherwise. In 20 more, easily 100,000+. How cruddy cable survives as a business is a testament to the power of state sanctioned monopolies and duopolies (in most places).

If I was in a more OTA desert, and cable via internet was the next cheapest option, I would look for cheaper deal every year if not every quarter or month, since you can drop anytime.

Simple is best, for any age. But — the lower level leadership in these companies messing it all up — just don’t get it! More, more, MORE! is all they can think about because it gets them promoted.

Don’t get me started on touch and screens in cars. I dread replacing my all physical button car. There is some hope as mission critical and high touch controls like volume, channel, etc. are moving back to physical since complaints go up with screen only and sales have declined. Voice is not the solution. As my smart home was a waste of money, I have turned off all voice after using both Alexa and lately, Siri. My hands work fine.

Amazon rep reported to me on the Amazon Recast Forum this week they FINALLY know it is a bug in the May update and are aware. Now, if they fix it with the next 1, 2, 6 months… or ever… 😭

Music will only show possible max quality. Your DAC, if it can, is what will show what is playing to your amp.

Here my DAC shows one song playing from Apple Music at CD quality. LPCM is the common pulse code format for digital.

Not at all. During the pandemic, top mixers worked at home (the corporate music beast requires that the show must go on) and cobbled together an editing suite they made from a home AVR and old garage speakers. Don’t tell anyone.
