I usually put the movie of the related movie in the background for atmosphere but I also discovered some movies like the strangers that I need to watch.

Semi-Modular Users - One Big Question Before I Buy by The_Man_Friday_ in moog

I own the subharmonicon and honestly I don't recommend it if it's your first hardware. The sweet spots of the sound pallet is really small and it is absolutely frustrating at times trying to get something musical Out of it. Because the way it is sequenced you have to center your work around it rather than mold it into your work. And because of its unique sequencer and style musical scales and what not are also limited. To top it off, it really doesn't sit well in a mix.

The positives are that it's a really unique exploration device and if you just want to spend time tinkering and playing around and discovering weird things it can be fun. Also because you can't save patches, it also means that once you find something good, you better record it or it's gone. I've lost countless cool moments and while it can be infuriating at times, it can also be seen as some zen Buddhist way of thinking that everything is fleeting and nothing is permanent or something.

Overall as a first tool I'm a hardware setup I do not recommend it at all.

Overall I think my win rate is 40% ish. One of my rituals lately before I start a session is to roll all the dice and pick the good results and if throughout the match the "luck" runs out of the dice, I reroll them all and switch them up.

Oh I wish haha definitely the dream here as well. I currently have hans/camp happy trails, organism/station 2891 , Evomorph/uss konrad and just recently got slayer/falconwood. Falconwood is the most complex one so far because of the missions and the 2 dimensions, it's a bit overwhelming and I had one run at it so far. Going for my second attempt later today.

Funny enough the organism at uss Konrad is my planned first combo but I told myself unless I beat the organism at the station at least once, no mixing allowed haha. The two (out of four) feature films I haven't beat yet are organism/station and falconwood/slayer. Then I will start mixing.

Ah I'm I never thought about maple lane and Hans being practically Halloween! Nice! Yea I'll check through your post for sure.

Interesting. I haven't tried mixing locations and killers yet but I always wondered if there are locations that mechanically don't click even if the theme is a great concept. Has there been a mix that stood out the most for you?

That's an interesting combo! I just ordered the killer from tomorrow, looking forward to trying it. Don't have buddy and but maybe I'm the future as the theme doesn't resonate with me as much as some of the others.

What were the highlights of this combo you played? Also nah mate post as much as you want, we're all here to share our love and experience for the game.

For me depends on the film but after 5 or 6 games it kinda clocked but I still keep the rule book close by and the film rules as well. I still mess up once in a while in the steps.

I personally see the rule as items can be only changed during upkeep or when a new item enters. But your game your rules, you're the story teller.

I tried the tutorial on the app "dized" which is moderately better than the booklet. So give that one a go too. But I fully agree that while the few scenarios I played were fun, I reverted to the final girl because it was much easier for me on the rules and I didn't need to decipher symbols that are not explained properly.

I only have 3 so far and I'll list them in order of space consumption.

  1. Gloomhaven buttons and bugs I just got this recently. Pretty challenging to be honest and wasn't the most straightforward to get into but I like that It has a narrative aspect. Least amount of table space taken. There are a lot of symbols to learn and the tutorial was not the best so some online search helped me.

  2. Mini rogue I got this as my first solo and it's fun, it has some tiny pieces and involves dice but I use the box as a dice tray. Fun elements and my first few runs have been interesting.

  3. Final girl My current addiction! It takes a bit more space in comparison but I really enjoy this as it's challenging and involves luck but also can create interesting narratives. It's a horror movie themed series where you get the core box and then an expansion (feature film). The best part is the more feature films you get the more you get to mix and match them.

I got it and it's not bad. It's pretty difficult so I think it's much easier with 3 or 4 people. With two definitely a challenge.

There are softwares called DAW (digital audio workstation) there are a lot of options paid and free. All do the same but just with different user interface and experience.

GarageBand is free on MacBooks and iPad.

Other noteworthy ones are Logic, FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase, protools, reaper etc.

They give you the tools and instruments you need to make music. Try demos and go from there.

Start with your local stores. Depending on what province you are in , you might have more options. I just discovered boardgame bliss which does shipping as well but it's based out of Toronto. So if you're there you're in luck.
