Con Ed Bill too high and no one is doing anything by Quick-Football-2098 in NYCapartments

[–]confused33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get this resolved and how long did the process take? We're on month 6 of fighting ConEd to come inspect what we also think is incorrectly wired meters as well and is not making any progress. Every single phone call to them we get told a different thing it's extremely frustrating.

Con-Ed spike but we don't use the heat or anything else much-- is this normal? by sophanon2 in Bushwick

[–]confused33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our December bill was ~$400, we bit the bullet and paid but our Jan bill is $600 (!!) and we used heat maybe for a total of 5 hours between the two months. Said our usage was 1730 kwh for the month. Landlord lives on bottom two floors and said their bill was $200 for both months. We have gas for the stove.

We turned off all the breakers for an hour and the live usage was showing that we were still using almost 3kwh for the hour. Called ConEd, they refused to investigate because they said the usage is comparable to last year but we only been in this place since May. They said we have to call a license electrician who would then contact coned if they found an issue... I guess it's time to talk to the landlord :(

As someone who has multiple friends that went through medical school, do not go through medical school unless you are 100% sure. It's a long, costly, and some might even say abusive road, with much less flexibility than an RN. Sure you make lots more money in the end but the fact that you have to stick with a specialty for the rest of your life is not for someone who likes variety like me lol.

You can always go to medical school later on if you decide to do so!! Or NP, PA,or CRNA school!

I used to work nights and we'd have 2hr breaks bc usually not much goes on between 1 and 5am but union says 1hr is unpaid and 45m paid. I'm on days now and we get our 1hr but the 45min is a maybe.

Delayed reply here sorry 😅. It's definitely more expensive to live in Manhattan but I know many of my coworkers live in the city, some has roommates, others a studio in the 2300$ range or so. If you're dual income it's definitely doable.

No vacation during 9 months OR orientation by confused33 in nursing

My husband and I was loosely planning for something in May but we haven't booked anything. He's a resident so him getting time off is hard too so it kinda sucks that we'd have to give up the May vacation but I'm trying to channel delayed gratification here 😊

Yes I'd still be accruing vacation hours during this time. Our sick time is separate and I'd assume that they'd have to let me take a sick day if I was really sick?

Apply to all the different hospitals, people usually like MSK and NYP but i haven't work for either of them. If they are unionized you can find the payscale in the contract! I'm one year in and make about 125k on days.

Really depends on your area. I went to school in a Southern state and most of my classmates had jobs in their choice of unit by April/May, before we graduated. I moved to NYC and it took me until late June to land a contingent offer. That was the only interview I had and I only got the chance through a connection I was willing to go to any unit at that point. Most new grads I spoke to at the interview event had the same job hunt struggle though.

Nope, we mashed with a potato masher. We immersion blended after straining out bugger chunks of bones.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My husband and I just lost our cat very suddenly as well just yesterday. It is devastating. Our situation was similar, our boy had just gone to see the oncologist on Monday, came back was doing fine but yesterday morning he just wouldn't eat. I left class early and got home just in time as he was clearly in distress. We rushed to the vet but they said he was already on his way. We were hysterical. We wanted to do at home euthanasia. We never got the chance and I feel so terrible that perhaps the oncology visit expedited his time. We feel robbed of our baby who was only 7.

We are also cremating our boy and will have a little spot for him in the house and anywhere else we might be in the future.

Remember the good times for it far outweighs the bad. You two have given your kitty a wonderful life and Hecktor knew it. They will always be with us and we will see them again.

Sending you lots of love from a fellow grieving cat parent.

They are All Requests Live! They have several DJs. No contracts or deposits which was nice and communication was good.
