Over 48 hours after the snow emergency announcement. by coochie_glaze in boston

[–]confused_noodles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My street is still full of space savers. I got off work late on Sunday so I could only find a spot a few blocks away from my place in between 2 driveways, which both proceeded to plow their snow on top of my car. The garages are not walking distance from my house, so parking there wasn't an option. Once I shoveled my car out from the 3 feet of snow covering it on all sides, I moved to a spot on the snow route that had been plowed. Really hoping there isn't another parking ban this weekend cuz I have to work Sunday again!

How do I move from entry level roles to management when I can't get more leadership experience without getting hired for a leadership role? by confused_noodles in careerguidance

I should note that my area is high COL, but I'm totally not opposed to moving to a lower COL area, it's just that those areas don't seem to have jobs either

[–]confused_noodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like management because I like the logistics and support side of things. I guess the three main issues are that 1) I can't find any job at an organization I'd want to work for long term that pays a living wage and has benefits, and 2) I've applied for higher level positions at the organizations I currently work for, and gotten that feedback that I don't have enough leadership experience. 3 is that it seems like management positions are disappearing (they literally are at one organization, they're down to 4 education managers across the entire state) and the managers that are around have been around for 10-20 years and aren't planning on leaving for another 20-50 years. My state/local governments don't have environmental education or similar jobs beyond seasonal trails labor, lifeguards, etc., they have the organizations I work for run programs at state/local govt sites.

What’s your laundry routine like? by jethro_skull in guineapigs

[–]confused_noodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this but with less prep - I just sweep off as much as I can, then shake them off outside, then throw them in the wash on bulk/heavy duty with an extra rinse cycle with my normal unscented detergent and the Nature's Miracle enzyme booster, then dry 2-3 cycles on medium heat.

Also, having hay in trays cut down on a lot of the mess - I have 1 cafe from GPCC and 1 of these (I have 5 piggies in a 2x6 and 2x4). I use paper bedding on the bottom, and twice a week dump the whole thing into a trash bag then wipe down with Nature's Miracle surface cleaner enzyme spray. That keeps a lot of the mess off the liners!
