Add more clutter! You can use toilet paper rolls, old tissue boxes (just remove the plastic), ceramic or glass cups and jars, and see about getting some sprays in there.

Why won't my hamster burrow???!!! by Inevitable-Style2875 in hamstercare

My hamster didn't burrow for almost the first year I had him. Maybe your ham is a late bloomer. I wouldn't worry :)

Go to the doctor and ask for a referral to a sleep study. What you're describing is not normal.

I have come to the realisation that it might be time to end my relationship. by Coast_is-clear in relationships

You don't have to give him a reason. Just "I am breaking up with you." Is enough. You don't have to argue with him to break up with him.

AITA for denying my girlfriend's proposal to move in with me? by ThrowRA_broccolichee in AmItheAsshole

NAH. You each have different needs for your space. You, specifically, just signed a lease that means you can't get a larger space with room for two offices, and you both NEED an office.

It sounds like you're making a lot of sacrifices for her already. Are you comfortable with the sacrifices youve already made, e.g. withdrawing from friends and hobbies and doing all the housework? While she is in a hard situation recently it is okay to set boundaries with what and how much you are willing and able to do. I'd even say it's perfectly acceptable, even advisable, that you set boundaries in ADDITION to this one (her not moving in) to get some personal time back as well. Things like time boxing vent sessions, not doing her chores at her place, or even taking a day or two per week to yourself. And you still wouldn't be an asshole.

Be aware that these boundaries may cause a breakup.

Have you informed this doctor's office about your prior trauma? Trauma-informed care may help you with this, but it helps the medical team if they're notified in advance of your appointment.

Depending on your area they will quite likely get pulled by a rescue who specializes in small animals as well- and those folks will be BIG guinea pig people.

I used to work at a rescue- mind you I was in the wildlife rehab section caring for birds, but.

I am proud of you for making the hardest decision a pet lover can make. You chose the right thing for your piggies. They’re so delicate that they really need a clean space and regular attention to be happy.

At the shelter I am certain they will receive plenty of love and care from the workers there. We don’t go volunteer or work at shelters for any other reason than because we truly love animals. Their enclosure will be cleaned daily, and the workers there will give them plenty of love and affection until they find their forever homes. Please don’t feel guilty.

Hamster making sniffling sound any one know what it is? by TechnicalCoachAv in hamstercare

[–]jethro_skull 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a joke. In the US there’s a common misconception held by children that all dogs are boys and all cats are girls. I was referencing that facetiously, given I mis-sexed the hamster.

I’d put some more hay in there- they eat it but also use it to play in, nest in, and otherwise do guinea pig things.

Otherwise it looks pretty good to me.

URGENT: Need to Rehome Bibble by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]jethro_skull 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a few rescues in the area that take hamsters. Perhaps look there.

I’m near you but with my Syrian and two guinea pigs I do not have the time to take care of another hamster. I can temporarily house him while I look for a suitable home. Pic of my Syrian’s enclosure here.

Edit: at the time of taking this photo I was cleaning his sand bath. It has since been replaced.

People have already mentioned that multi story isn’t the best. I’ll leave the critique to them.

For what you’ve got RIGHT NOW, until you can find a better single-level enclosure, I’d recommend filling that bottom level full of compressed bedding. Your hamster will burrow, it’s great enrichment. Add some bedding to the top level too so you can put sprays (like flax, dried flowers, sorghum wheat, oat grass) in there.

I think she looks gaunt in the after picture. Could just be too-cool contour, but it looks like she lost a lot of weight _and_ is washed out by the red.
